Did Trump Lie? Part 2

Did Trump Lie? Part 2

If you're going to do a poll every time Trump lies you're going to be pretty busy.

People who are literally paid to document and catalogue Trump's lies don't have the stamina to keep up with them.

In 181 days, President Trump has made 836 false and misleading claims\

The Fact Checker’s ongoing database of the false and misleading claims made by President Trump during his first 365 days in office.

Updated July 19, 2017

That's right, nearly a month ago employees at the Washington Post reached some kind of existential crisis and said "**** it, doing nothing but keeping track of this asshole's lies is sucking my soul."

Yeah, he lied an unlike most politicians he often lies about easily checked facts that just make him look like a total narcissistic ego maniac with attention deficit disorder.
Everybody lies, on a daily basis. You, me, your boss, your dog, everyone. If someone recorded every single thing you said or wrote, after a week it'd be patently easy to declare you as a "liar" based on perfectly normal behavior.

The question though is how often to people lie; what do they lie about; and what do they do when they're caught.

The problem with Trump is that he is willing to lie about anything and everything, big and small. He lies frequently. He constantly contradicts himself. And when he's caught, he doubles down, he attacks the people who pick up on the truth or contradiction.

I.e. this is not garden variety spin or deceptions. It's pathological.

Did Trump Lie? Part 2

In the interest of fairness I did include his little afterthought qualification. I have no interesting in trying to hide anything, though I did find his concern over the Washington Post's "Pinocchios" an interesting window into his fragile ego and thin-skinnedness.

So, did Trump lie?

It is interesting that the topic of Trump's lying could very well be a daily feature, with a new lie everyday, if we wanted to.

Yes, but not in the way you might think. He could very well think he did sign more bills, even though he didn't. So that might not be a lie. The part about Harry Truman was the obvious whopper. He has no idea how many bills Truman signed. He was just trying to bolster his claim.

I find it fascinating that the left takes all of this BS so seriously. Who cares how many illegals voted? Who cares what the crowd size was at the inauguration? Who cares how many bills Trump says he has signed? Only the left seems to enjoy getting all muddled up in non-events of little importance. I care about the important stuff. The anti-Trumpsters love to talk about all this stuff because they can't really find anything that is actually important to talk about. Every time they try roasting Trump over something really important it blows up in their faces and then they have to resort to roasting Trump over nonsense like this.

Jog my memory. Which things blew up in their faces, besides the election, of course. That was a rather big one.

Fine attributes for a CEO. For a President of the United States, not so much. Trumps money has always insulated him form the consequences of his actions. His position as a CEO in a private company has allowed him to function well. The problem is that he doesn't have those protections now and he's having trouble functioning in this new context.

Agreed.

A CEO just delegates to expendable subordinates. A President should be hiring highly qualified people he should trust and listen to.

Clearly as POTUS - the buck stops here. But he has to surround himself with people with more experience and intelligence rather than people who are just "yes men". Loyalty should be country first.

There is no proof of collusion to influence the election, no proof that the election results were actually changed, no proof of obstruction of justice, no proof of anything. But the left has hopes because the investigations aren't over yet. 7 Years from now they will be saying the same thing, the investigations aren't over yet. More than likely Flynn, Manafort, and maybe one or two low level minions might face charges over something but Trump will skate merrily on, just as Hillary skated merrily on. And, that's what all this is really about, the left wants to somehow prove that the election was not legitimate or that Trump should go and that ain't happenin.

No we don't. It's just better for your argument if we do. No one thinks that the Russian meddling affected the election results. Do you really think that it was okay that the Russians meddled, since it didn't affect the results? Are you like Trump, who says no they didn't and it's all Obama's fault anyway? We're worried about the integrity of the next election, and the ones after that. So work on your straw man some more. He's getting pretty ragged. I agree with you that Trump probably didn't collude, though some of his people probably did. If they get Trump on anything with the Russians, it will be something like money laundering. I wouldn't think he could be impeached for something he did before he was president.

Except you me and your boss are not president and are not using their office to spread lies and distortions to the entire country. And most of the lies you, me and your boss tell are not that influential as those by the president.

And you are right, Trump keeps lying about just about everything, not just policies but simple facts.

That is the left's entire argument! The election wasn't legitimate. Trump and/or his aides colluded with the Russians to influence the election. Trump obstructed justice. Trump must go!

That's a red-herring and is not the "left's" argument. There is a poll in the Poll section and virtually everyone agrees (even Liberals) that Trump is the legitimate president. Any Russian collusion, in my mind at least, is probably most applicable to his son (Jr), Trump aides (like Manafort, Page, Stone, etc) and Trump appointments (Flynn, Sessions). It also seems to me that there is a working probability that somewhere in his past, Trump borrowed monies from either Russian state banks or illicit Russian sources. It is also possible that Trump is complicit in laundering Russian mafia/oligarch money (hence the high number of Trump properties purchased by Russians of ill-repute). There is also no [apparent] explicable reason why Trump is so sweet on Vladimir Putin. There is an underlying reason why Trump adamantly conceals his tax returns. We just don't know the reason(s) yet. Hopefully, SC Robert Mueller will either put the collusion suspicions to bed, or find enough dirt to indict and/or expose the collusion/corruption.

Oh. OK. So, you're not after Trump at all. Thanks for clearing that up.

Then no sense to investigate Trump anymore.
