Surgical strikes targeting military and government leaders, starting at the top. Should do that now, before they get the chance. Send in a few groups of seals with drone strike s to back them up. And watch cookie crumble.

We definitely should not Nuke them, or target civilians in any way.

*IF* North Korea were to attack us, what should we do?

A significant attack.

What do you call an insignificant attack? Sounds like you are saying we should just let them insignificantly attack us. An attack is an attack.

Respond with overwhelming and decisive force. The Colin Powell doctrine.

In every respect, the most effective and humane way to conduct war.

I doubt we'll ever do that. We would never intentionally target civilians. But we could do a damned fine job of destroying their entire infrastructure and send millions seeking refuge into China. I'm thinking they wouldn't like that much.

It's China's move, imo.

Kick their ass.

I voted other, only because I think that there should be a simultaneous retaliatory strike by the US, emergency UN Security Council action, as well as instantaneous invoking and activation of Article 5 of NATO.

Bomb them into the stoneage, then move 4 infantry divisions in a line from the 38th Parallel to the Tumen river mopping up what's left.

That's illegal per EO 12333.

Grab our coloring books and security blankets and head for our safe spaces.

Landing 3 NK Spec Ops on Guam and having them throw sea shells at tourists would be considered an insignificant attack.

Now, you want him to ignore the law. :lamo

You realize what an executive order is right? I mean, do I really have to explain this to you? Really?

And its' not like we follow the damn thing, we do assisinations all the time. I think we can make an exception for NK

No need to nuke all of the North, only need to eliminate one target -Pyongyang.

Scorched earth. And let Iran know they're up next.

I disagree that we should do it now. No attack on NK is going to be very palatable. Seoul is only 35 miles from the NK border and there are literally thousands of pieces of artillery pointed at it. Not saying we shouldn't do anything but that should be a sobering variable to take into account.

If we are actually attacked there is no need to go to the U.N. and they would be of no use, regardless. Further, waiting to diddle around with the U.N. would only give them time to do more things and dig in even more. On an actual attack, we should immediately undertake a bombing campaign that would be at a level that hasn't been seen since WW2. The main focus would have to be on the thousands of conventional artillery pieces that are pointed at Seoul, with surgical strikes on their nuclear facilities. The bombings on the artillery would have to be immediately followed up by a very hard push by ground troops to clear out any artillery unites remaining and then secure the ground. After that, we just bomb the **** out of their leadership at a continued WW2 level of pace.

Yeah, and we can hit all their artillery before they get a shot off. Probably wouldn't take our navy half an afternoon to hit every inch of their side of the DMZ. We've advanced a great deal since the Korean War, they have not.

If it makes you feel any better, my best friend lives in Seoul, he claims they aren't all that worried about it.

Right, but all there artillery is already pointed at the target. Taking half an afternoon would still give plenty of time to shoot off a lot of rounds. I'm not sure what's up with your friend but all my buddies that have doing a Korean rotations take it pretty seriously.
