Are we headed to war with North Korea?

Are we headed to war with North Korea?

Do not count the ROK military out, or us especially if WE are the one to launch the first strike. You would be surprised how fast we could clear that artillery park on the DMZ out. Our arty is often overlooked, but believe me there is NO one better at TOT attacks, precision and counter battery. I have seen our boys work first hand without a leash. If Trump takes the military off the leash the NK's are well and truly screwed. It will be the 1st Gulf War all over again. It wont matter how deep they are dug in.

North Korea's military isn't a problem. Its their allies Russia and China's military that is the problem. That is why North Korea has not been dealt with since the first time they decided to do some **** after the armistice agreement and the numerous times afterwards.

Amazing how you can watch NK's leader all of these years and then call Trump a reckless nutjob.

Not only are they both nutjob's, they both have funny hair.

Coincidence? Perhaps not. LOL!

What would be a worst situation?

Alaska or Hawaii hit by some type of nuclear weapon?

Or the United States after exhausting all other possibilities launches a massive preemptive strike?

Both options would result in massive loss of life!

Yes... Trump is weak as hell, threatened domestically by scandal on scandal. Only way to get out of that and remain President, is by starting a war.

There are few enemies that the US can fight without consequences.

Russia.. cant fight your mother state.
Iran.. bad idea, as it would be a global conflict very fast.

That leaves North Korea. If he can get the Chinese to turn a blind eye, then he can do it. But any the consequences will be massive. South Korea will be wiped from the surface of the planet, and if nukes are involved, the fall out will hit China, Russia and Japan easily. Prices world wide on all electronics will sky rocket. Millions will die.

The worst part in many ways, is that the North Koreans have stated they only want to have nukes because they are afraid of an American attack... which is exactly what Trump will do because he does not have the intellectual capacity to see further than 30 seconds. Any general that allows him to call and attack should be put on trial when the dust settles along with Trump and his goons... for crimes against humanity. That is of course if there is anything left
.

Assuming they can actually hit the US with a nuke, which I doubt, then it will be an enormous tragedy, and shortly afterward North Korea will cease to exist.

North Korea now making missile-ready nuclear weapons, U.S. analysts say

https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/north-korea-now-making-missile-ready-nuclear-weapons-us-analysts-say/2017/08/08/e14b882a-7b6b-11e7-9d08-b79f191668ed_story.html?utm_term=.f322048f5cae

North Korea has successfully produced a miniaturized nuclear warhead that can fit inside its missiles, crossing a key threshold on the path to becoming a full-fledged nuclear power, U.S. intelligence officials have concluded in a confidential assessment.

The analysis, completed last month by the Defense Intelligence Agency, comes on the heels of another intelligence assessment that sharply raises the official estimate for the total number of bombs in the communist country’s atomic arsenal.

Other: Trump doesn't know what the **** he's doing, NK probably knows it, but the danger is in both sides being utterly obsessed with self-image.

I don't know, but that Trump is at the helm during this crisis should be considered by all to be a national emergency.

At a moment of nuclear brinksmanship like this, any citizen of the United States wants a few things from a leader. You want someone who they can trust to tell the truth, and who foreign leaders view as credible, so that threats and statements alike are taken seriously. You want someone who is know to able to carefully sift through a lot of evidence and assess upsides from downsides. You want someone who has a team of expert advisers whose judgment he trusts and takes seriously. And you want someone who is able to take bad news.

The problem is that Trump has none of these characteristics. He has shown himself to be prolifically dishonest. The president has lied to the public about matters great and small, from the petty (the size his inauguration crowd) to the serious (accusations of wiretapping, his own position on major matters) to the absurd (outright denying things he said publicly). As a result, Americans are in no position to trust the things he might tell them in a crisis, whether those remarks are delivered from behind the Resolute desk or via tweet.

This is a fairly reasonable summation: If You Weren’t Worried Yet, You Can Start Now – Talking Points Memo

"But the larger issue is that we’ve now seen a repeated practice of totalizing threats from the US without a viable policy to back it up. To be more concrete, we’ve threatened that all options are on the table and hinted at solving the crisis by military means when it doesn’t seem like we have any viable path to do so. So we walk away from diplomacy without a viable alternative, thus losing the advantages of diplomacy while gaining none of the advantages of force. Don’t threaten what you won’t or can’t do."

"The worst possible thing is a President who is stupid, impulsively emotional and has something to prove, which is exactly what we have. (You think his litany of failures as President so doesn’t make him eager for a breakout, transformative moment?) At the risk of stating the obvious, threats like this from a country that has the ability to kill everyone in North Korea at close to a moment’s notice can set off a highly unpredictable chain of events. What if North Korea issues more threats? Presumably Trump fails to respond with a nuclear attack and reveals his threats as empty or – truly, truly unimaginably – he launches a nuclear attack. These are not good choices to face."

For decades U.S Presidents laughed at N.Korea and thought of them as nothing but a joke. Today, Trump (who a lot of the population sees is a joke) said that he doesn't think North Korea is a joke. I hope. Hope. Hope. This is JUST a twitter fight taken offline.

A first strike from N. Korea would likely entail hundreds of nuclear warheads aimed at several major US cities....not just one. I've heard that their latest missile launch could've reached Chicago if it was launched at a horizontal angle instead of straight up.

That said, I don't think N. Korea would launch a first strike unless they thought the US was going to attack them first. But with Trump's rhetoric they may be thinking that now.

Yes they have become increasingly unstable and unpredictable.

Putin takes off his shirt while on vacay and 45 swings his d*** in response.

Who the **** knows anymore, up is down, right is left. Cats are riding dogs, Republicans are defending big government, and Democrats are screaming less government. And the libertarians are calling for more police and harsher sentences.

Anything could happen.

Clearly Trump needs a war "wag the dog" this is a historical horrible administration whom can't seem to do anything right. Now clearly the one thing the GOP loves is a good war. War creates jobs it creates pride in America. Although the GOP is never good at getting a mission completed war is their trump card all the damn time and if not Iran then why not north Korean. https://www.debatepolitics.com/international-politics/287168-wars-and-rumors-war.html

What would you like to hear him say?

I'd like for him to not act like third world despot. I cannot make you see/hear any different than what you took away from the video clip. His words and his body language do not project strength or the calm needed on the world stage in 2017. Here's hoping what you saw/interpreted is the opposite of what I saw.

It is hard to understand the thought process of North Korea.

If they launched a nuke the response from USA, Japan, and South Korea is going to be something like we have not seen before.

It is really mindboggling what NK can be thinking.

This is the problem with today's statement. DJT has painted the US into a corner. If NK threatens again what does DJT do? Nothing and that emboldens NK as they have been emboldened since the cease fire in the fifties. If they threaten, DJT has pretty much said the response will be nuclear. What is the upside? With the body language demonstrated today, if I was Kim, I'd push, they are both nuts, and Kim is more desperate than Trump. Trump is just simple.
