Will President Trump veto the Russian Sanctions Bill?

That is hard to do, I had understood. But, why should he? Because Russia would be angry and the Germany and Austrians threatened revenge?

Apparently, he might veto it and say that he did it so that the Bill can be made tougher.

At least, that would be his justification.

Well, the sanctions should hurt enough to make Putin heal his transgressions. Whether it makes sense for the US to be the only one enacting real sanctions is a different story. And it does look like the Europeans are not being tough at all and especially the Germans are again free riding the US and cherry picking lucrative deals with Putin that will harm the United States. Again we are at the same point as so often.

We have three issues here:
- Russian military aggression that must be acted on
- European free riding
- German export surpluses, the way they source them and the fair trade Trump talked about.

The new sanctions bill against Russia is domestic in nature and is not commingled with other US sanctions imposed for Russia's military occupations of Crimea and Donbas.

These new sanctions punish the Kremlin for attacking the US democratic process during the 2016 election season.

If Trump vetoes, Congress will override his veto.

Trump, would of course say he vetoed because he doesn't consider the sanctions strong enough, but we all know better than to swallow such malarkey from the pro-Russia Trump.

I say NO since Congress would simply over ride his veto and he then looks like a damn fool and confirms the worst suspicions about his ties to Russia.

I vote yes. Not because Trump has an agenda, and not guessing what changing-reasons would be.

I vote that he will, simply because he has the power to, and Trump will use his power simply because he can. I don't give him credit to have an actual justification, despite what he says after he vetoes.

He loves having power and using it.

But the Senate passed the bill like 92-2 with Bernie Sanders, who allegedly has Russian ties, voting against it. So the bill is actually veto proof.

pocket veto is my speculation - with the upcoming recess

If any Bill shall not be returned by the President within ten days (Sundays excepted) after it shall have been presented to him, the same shall be a Law, in like manner as if he had signed it, unless the Congress by their Adjournment prevent its return, in which case it shall not be a Law.

I voted no. The Trump administration has already come out and said it would be vetoed only if it didn't go far enough in punishing Russia and Iran. His veto would almost surely be overridden if there were one.

Will President Trump veto the Russian Sanctions Bill?

I want to say no.Because why would the president signs something that strips him of power? But then again Trump changes his positions alot. So I picked unknown.
