How much golf is too much golf?

How much golf is reasonable for a sitting President? (on average)

Re: How much gold is too much golf?

I'm ok with 2-3 times a month, though I think that most of those times should be at a local course near DC. An occasional trip out-of-state is fine, but too many trips to other states, with all the costs and people involved, is selfish and irresponsible.

I think that's the only thing that bugs me about it. I don't care if a president golfs, but vacationing every weekend is pretty annoying. Most people would be lucky to fly out to some resort once a year if that.

Re: How much gold is too much golf?

Then by your own standard Trump should sell his golf clubs and never play again.

Nope. I think Trump is the hardest working POTUS in recent history. I also think he faces more obstructionism than any of them.

Re: How much gold is too much golf?

As much as he has time for, given his other duties. Why is it any of your business?

How much golf is too much golf? For a sitting President.

Whenever Trump's golf comes up conservatives justify it by saying Obama golfed, too. Liberals counter with Trump golfs more than Obama did. Conservatives counter with, essentially, golf is golf, we don't count the holes.

So, how much golf is too much golf? Or, as the poll question will be phrased: How much golf is reasonable for a sitting President?

Please note, that unless you are a partisan hack-job, your answer should be the same for all Presidents.

I never bitched when Obama golfed, and I don't give a **** how much the Orange Buffoon golfs.

Little whiny people care about how much any president golfs.

I would be hitting balls over the White House walls for a laugh........................screw it!

Re: How much gold is too much golf?

Who do you think buys that bull**** WCH? Is that the level of intelligence you're use to interacting with?

Obama plays golf a modest amount in his 8 years in office - Republicans cry
Trump plays golf an absurd amount in less than one year in office as his administration collapses and he gets zero policy initiatives done. - WCH since Trump is doing a good job, it's all good.

Why even bring up golf at all? You're as lost as the white house and the do-nothing Republican congress.[/QUOTE/]

I didn't saying anything about Trump. However given that you'ere so ****ing intelligent, you probably missed that.

Re: How much gold is too much golf?

Trump should be given as much time to golf as his little hands desire...

He is in the worst shape of any president since Taft (and maybe even worse, given his history of diet pill amphetamine abuse), and even though golf cannot reasonably be considered "exercise"... the time he takes to walk to his shot from his cart should at least get some blood flowing.

Also... the more he hits the links, the less time he has to whine on Twitter!

Never too much golf for Trump. He could golf every day for the rest of his term, actually, and America would be better for it.

Only current events can dictate how much golf is too much. A good president needs a mental break on occasion. But a mental president is doing the nation a favor by remaining a far removed from his or her presidential duties as possible. Thus I I'll simply leave you with the following:

For Trump, he needs to golf 24/7/365. And as an independent, I'm not a partisan hack. Denial about our current political structure can only happen to a blind deaf-mute,

It's everybody's business. We pay the president's salary.

Yeah, we know, Trump grandstands by donating his 400K a year salary. He should. He never placed all of his business interests in a blind trust. He's making mega-bucks at the taxpayers expense by herding in political events, Diplomats, world leaders into his resorts and hotels.

You just said he isn't taking a salary, so no, you're not paying his salary. Read what you write. And he's judged based on his performance, not in how he spends his time.

Re: How much gold is too much golf?

I say, once a Month is good ... but meeting with other heads of states on the Golf Course is fine also.

It's not about the Number of times Trump plays Golf, it's the Number of times he LIED about President Obama playing Golf and his Hypocrisy on the subject.

This is precisely the issue most on the left have with it.

That and the fact that his own golf course possibly profits from it.

Re: How much gold is too much golf?

I'd say it's what your doing with your time outside of golf.

Lol. Emperor Tweeto doesn't do ****.

Let me see if we can slow this down a bit. The taxpayers pay his salary. He can only donate it AFTER he gets it. So yes we still pay his salary. And we pay for his golf. Which is substantially more than his salary.

The salary payment is still being made directly to Trump. How he spends his salary is nobody's business. Thus the taxpayers do indeed have a direct interest.

Oh, I don't know. Why do people join discussion forums then complain and chastise others when they actually discuss things?

I fully agree with that. I'm not as concerned that he plays golf, per se, and really not overly concerned about how much, but I do think he should play more often closer to DC instead of firing up Air Force one and taking multitudes of people and resources to Florida as often as he does.

He IS taking a salary, as a legal requirement. He claims to be donating it, but what he does after he takes a salary is his own personal affair. In between it's still his.

Even beyond the direct salary, he's still being compensated, i.e housing, transportation, security, and so on.

Re: How much gold is too much golf?

My thoughts about Trump, Obama, Bush or any other sitting president have never been about their damned golf game.

Re: How much gold is too much golf?

In my opinion, the amount of golf (or any other leisure activity) a president partakes in becomes too much when it negatively affects their job duties. Being president is a stressful job and taking some time to relax is healthy in such an environment.

Now the issue of doing it on the taxpayer's dime is a different one. I think the president should get a a reasonable leisure travel budget that comes with the job. If he uses that up, any further leisure travel should have to come out of his own pocket. Including the costs to bring staffers and security along as well.

When right wingers used to call Obama the Golfer in Chief and going on too many vacations I would point that if he is busy playing golf then most likely he is not busy signing any legislation into law that they would consider dangerous.

I agree, but I remember many who now say Trump can golf as often as wants were the very ones complaining that Obama was golfing too often.

I just shake my head because I know they will be same people who will complain when the next Democratic President desires to play a round of golf during his/her Presidency.

And that's really what the thread is about. Not so much golf, or any vacations, per se... but rather the blind hypocrisy of the uber partisans in defending their side or criticizing because it's not their side. Just because it's their side.
