Re: How much gold is too much golf?

I think the majority of the time he's having some conversation in his head that we're not privy to and he's actually replying to that conversation.

I have no idea what you are talking about. Are you referring to Cigar, or the anonymous poster in question who may not even be a participant in this thread, or even a member on this site?

Referring to Cigar.

The question could be framed "as how much time (hours per week?) should the POTUS spend only working?". IMHO, what the POTUS does on his off time is less important than what he does while working. I don't care how the POTUS spends their off time but I do care what he does in his official capacity.

I could never play enough Golf ... but the problem is, I'm way more busy than Donny :2razz:

I don't expect ANY President to only work, eat, and sleep. Absolutely not. Golf has just become something of a metaphor for time off, or "wasting time" as some imply.

Any. I grew up in/around Pebble Beach and fully agree with Sam Clemens: "Golf is a good walk, spoiled."

Re: How much gold is too much golf?

To be honest--the more golf Trump plays the better. :)

I was thinking of posting something similar. The rabid anti-Trump left should be happy that Trump takes up his time with vacations, golf, and even tweeting. It just goes to show how partisan and rabid they are by complaining that Trump isn't fulfilling his agenda because they don't want him to fulfill his agenda anyway.

There are some who do indeed complain about the time he spends tweeting, both volume and time of day. That's petty and insignificant.

There are also other people who complain about *what* he tweets. That can be warranted. That's legit.

I don't think it's petty to complain if it's outed that our President tweeted about the ratings of a TV show while he's in an Intelligence meeting. Not saying that actually happens but if it does come out then it's a valid complaint about the time of day.

Re: How much gold is too much golf?

I'd say it's what your doing with your time outside of golf.

So Trump and the folks on this forum who routinely bashed Obama for golf, were wrong?
They should have focused on his policy/choices in office, and not his golf outings?

Yep. They miss the boat. Trump is doing a great job preserving Obama's legacy. People need to hold onto that. But, I can see where the noise is also helpful in keeping it that way. So. A little of both, it appears is in play here.

Re: How much gold is too much golf?

I'm SOOOO sick of the golfing thing. Both sides are raving rampaging hypocrites to the point where it's tiresome on this. Those on the right had a fit about Obama with no regard for "how much it was", and the Left defended it continually without any regard for "how much it was". Now suddenly the shoes are flipped, and some on the right are suddenly flip flopping while some on the left are suddenly acting like there's some line of demarcation that they never mentioned before but suddenly totally exists and was totally beyond what Obama was doing.

I wish people would just shut the **** up and I wouldn't have to hear the world "golf" in relation to politics for a decade

Fair point. I agree with that.

I was thinking when he tweets at 3am because he can't sleep. That I really don't care about 'when'.

I'd say - annually .. I view golf with a ton of bias ..
Given that golf is a game and not a boni-fide sport .. IF trump could ''multi-task" (which I doubt), then the frequency of gaming would not matter...
If things were better, trump should spend his ''off time'' reading .

...reading Golf Digest.

Re: How much gold is too much golf?

I don't know what a "correct" number of rounds of golf is for a sitting President. However, if Candidate Trump believed that the number of rounds Obama played (333 over an eight year period) was problematic, then it's only fair to have the expectation that Trump will, at the very least, player fewer rounds of golf. At his current rate, Trump is on track to play 480 rounds of golf over an eight year period.

If you look up "hypocrisy" on dictionary.com, what you see is a video of Trump playing golf nearly every weekend after having roundly criticized Obama for playing golf at a lower frequency than himself. Therefore it is incumbent on Trump to admit that he was either lying when he claimed Obama's golf habits were an issue, or to make an a public apology to Obama stating that his golf habits were not a problem after all and he just didn't know any better at the time.

Since Trump doesn't apologize, we'll just have to go with the former option, which is that he was lying when he claimed that Obama's golf habits were a problem.

How much golf is too much golf? For a sitting President.

Whenever Trump's golf comes up conservatives justify it by saying Obama golfed, too. Liberals counter with Trump golfs more than Obama did. Conservatives counter with, essentially, golf is golf, we don't count the holes.

So, how much golf is too much golf? Or, as the poll question will be phrased: How much golf is reasonable for a sitting President?

Please note, that unless you are a partisan hack-job, your answer should be the same for all Presidents.

Don't care if he plays every day as long as the job gets done.

You can only complain about golf if the golfer is Obama.

If you're doing your job as POTUS, you can play as much of whatever as you want...Obama was not. There's your sign.

Who do you think buys that bull**** WCH? Is that the level of intelligence you're use to interacting with?

Obama plays golf a modest amount in his 8 years in office - Republicans cry
Trump plays golf an absurd amount in less than one year in office as his administration collapses and he gets zero policy initiatives done. - WCH since Trump is doing a good job, it's all good.

Why even bring up golf at all? You're as lost as the white house and the do-nothing Republican congress.

Then by your own standard Trump should sell his golf clubs and never play again.

Re: How much gold is too much golf?

Could not care less how many times a president hits the golf course.
