How long before - Session resigns- fired??

How long before - Session resigns- fired??

Trump is beating on Sessions almost every day in tweets. It's fairly clear Trump wants him gone so that Trump can appoint a more loyal, obedient, and pliable AG. Trump apparently believes the overarching job of the AG is to protect Trump from all investigations and litigation. In addition, I believe Trump wants someone at the helm who will fire Mueller and take all the heat for it ... insisting that Trump had nothing to do with the firing.

At this point I think only trumps family members would make such an argument.

If the GOP screws up Health Care, Price might be gone before Sessions.

Sessions firing might be a nail in 45's coffin as far as the investigation is concerned.

...and when does the United States Military step in? If this goes too far, a coup is not out of the question. Should congress fail to do its job and contain him, They would step in before Trump "burned the place down." Our Constitutional form of government isn't bullet proof. If too many citizens (and members of congress) are willing to look the other way at glaring issues, we could lose everything.

We are marching to dangerous territory here folks. People need to take Trump's* unpresidential antics seriously.

Indeed. This gentleman has a most interesting take on it; not unreasonable at all. We elected what is essentially a mafia don into the White House. How else would we expect him to act?

Sadly few Republicans are slamming Trump on his treatment of Sessions
I am no fan of Sessions, but this behavior from Trump is to be expected but not excused.

I don't know how long Sessions will last. I do know if I were a senator I sure wouldn't give up my seat to go work for Trump. Heck, I would give up my day job. I know Sessions and all the other political appointees serve at the president's discretion. Trump can do whatever he wants when he wants as far as firing his appointees. I bet Sessions wishes he just stayed in the senate and told Trump no.

I disagree. I can easily envision Priebus, Smootch, Conway, and Huckabee-Sanders supporting/trumpeting that argument.

For refusing to stand up for Sessions and his treatment by Trump.
I am well aware it is within Trumps Constitutional authority to fire many including any Cabinet member. He has no use for Sessions, then fire him.
But sadly far to many Republicans make excuses for Trumps behavior.

"Spineless" or one of its synonyms, e.g. "cowardly," is what you want, not "sleazy."

Fired in August and replaced with a hack that will fire Mueller in the August recess, forcing DEMs to race back to DC early from the August recess. Constitutional Crisis 101 .

August 15 is the special GOP senate election primary, with Sen. Strange and Rep. Brooks currently rhetorically cutting each other's throats .

It's Alabama, enough said.

A possible win for DEMs in the special general in December? Watch out for the GOP Utah CD-3 primary on 8/15 also. DEMs have a great candidate for the special general 11/7/17, along with the state VA and NJ elections .

Pretty much synonymous with politician :)

In this case as leader of the House he cannot defend Sessions. Yet we have a small number of Senators sticking up for Sessions. Not a fan of Sessions here, but Kerist it just gets worse
Trump is big on bullying & belittling people.

You know, it'd be fine if Trump just fired Sessions, in private, or accepted Sessions' resignation, if that's the what needs to be done.

I don't think Trump is doing the right thing by airing his grievances publicly.

Unless something changes between now and November, I expect easy Democratic wins in VA and NJ. With Utah CD, I suspect the Republican will win in November, but I don't or haven't even took a look at it. As for the midterms next year, I have taken a look at what Cook, Rothenberg, Sabato etc. I don't think the Democrats would regain the house if the election was held today. Probably gain 10-15 seats. But we still have 15 months or so to go. But looking at Trump's approval, party affiliation, several generic polls, how folks view the two congressional parties, etc. I would say the stars are aligning quite nicely for a Democratic take over.

I think the one thing that could ensure that takeover would be passage of the AHCA. Much like passage of the ACA over the majority of Americans opposition which lead to a 63 seat loss back in 2010, it seems the GOP are marching down that identical road. I won't put a number on how many seats the Dems would most likely pick up, but it will be more than the 24 they need. How much more, give it time.

I approve of everything Maverick McCain said and did today on the Senate floor, finally giving us PUBLIC debate and the amendment process on this monstrous wealthcare, which of course DEMs did with ACA.

Pressure will increase on at-risk senators Flake and Heller, as well as the moderate GOPs, to go with Collins and Murkowski. Then it's back to the dysfunctional house before a joint committee.

Dr. Kathryn Allen in the Utah CD-3 is the real deal. You've also seen that Mia Love in Utah CD-4 is also making the lists from Cook, Sabato, Rothenberg.

Btw, watch for trump to 'pocket veto' the Russia sanctions bill that passed the two chambers 419-3 and 97-2 .

Trump is big on bullying & belittling people.

It is more than a handful of Senators, Sessions has a lot of respect among his fellow Senators he served with and that was evident today. Not only Senators are upset with the way Trump has berated Sessions, members of his cabinet let it leak that they don't approve either.

The editors of National Review Online have very harsh words:

That the president is taking out his pique on Sessions shows just how cheaply he holds loyalty. As the senior senator from Alabama, Sessions was one of Donald Trump’s earliest congressional backers; he huddled with the candidate regularly throughout the campaign; he was instrumental in shaping Trump’s immigration policy; and Sessions’s communications director, Stephen Miller, is now the president’s senior adviser and chief speechwriter. No single elected official did more to help Donald Trump in 2016. Trump’s conduct toward a longtime ally is shameful.

Referring to options short of firing Mueller, the NRO editors conclude with, "Of course, this will hardly resolve the chaos in which the Trump White House finds itself perpetually engulfed. That will subside only when the president becomes more interested in leading his team than in abusing them."

My bet is Sessions will not resign. If Trump wants him gone he will have to fire him.

Sessions is calling Trump's bluff. And if Trump turns around and fires him, Trump will have to pay the consequences and there will be consequences.

True. If my boss were treating me like Trump's treating Sessions, I'd not play his petty game and make anything easy on him. Maybe he'll fire him and let it hit the news before anyone tells Jeff, like he did with Comey. He's such a class act this President. His own hand picked new communications director said he thinks firing someone the way Trump did is undignified and inhumane...what a circus.

"leading his team than in abusing them", indeed.

Even so, still not as bad for the country as what I imagine a Hillary presidency would have been.

Ironically, in 1993 Bill Clinton fired the FBI Director, whose name was William Sessions! ... Weird!

Policies. Policies. Dont get so distracted. I have been up the creek for years since obama started mugging me out of my health insurance.

So you have been sick or hospitalized? That is the only way to know if you had anything worth having for Health insurance. I hope you like higher premiums AND deductibles if you are looking forward to Trumpcare. You "free ride" with the ACA is liable to be over.

The small number I was referring to were Republicans, and from what I understand this just began in the past few days where more were speaking up to defend Sessions.
