What Happens On Tuesday?

Healthcare Vote?

  • Healthcare passes in some form

    Votes: 0 0.0%
  • Repeal passes

    Votes: 0 0.0%

  • Total voters
    12
A bill to debate and discsuss health care will be offered.

If it gets the votes necessary, useless speeches will be made.

If it fails, the process is dead until after the recess.

I doubt that a bill will be offered unless the votes are present to put it on the floor - these things are well scripted by leadership to avoid embarrassing surprises.

A lot of things will happen on Tuesday... Why limit it to just these three choices?

In this case, since part of the purpose is to get the no votes on record so rank and file can go after the no voters, it might very well happen even if it is a loser.

Astute and quite possibly so. Some of the senatorial primaries could be blood baths politically for the GOP.

Actually there were four. Welcome to upper level............

I don't think that is a good idea. Being against a "replacement" plan that has no chance of removing most of PPACA and has a very low approval rate could be a plus in some states. Playing a game of RINO labeling while pointing at a bill which leaves much of PPACA intact is an odd thing to try.

Tuesday 25JUL17 there is to be a vote on healthcare for Americans. Which way does it go? According to Senators, no one is quite sure what bill will be voted on.
If they're voting on something even 50% as bad as what basically failed a week or so ago, then:
If they listen to their constituents, they won't pass it.
That **** was hilariously unpopular, basically "ACA/Obamacare is failing (because we pulled key parts out, and because it actually is a kinda ****ty plan), so we're going to replace it with something WORSE".

I mean, that plan was just plain terrible.

I agree it is a bad idea. I report, you decide.

Apparently McCain will be in attendance tomorrow for any votes.

They can't just vote to repeal without a replacement. That would leave millions that were forced onto Obamacare without insurance. The deadline to have a new bill was June 20th--so they could put an approved bill into the hands of the insurers so they could write their policies for January 2018.

To debate? I don't think so. Republicans had 7 long years to think about a replacement--and they couldn't come up with one. There's a reason for it, they do not agree on Health Care.

As John Boehner stated in February--all the repeal/replace rhetoric was nothing more than overly optimistic happy talk for the campaign season, citing Republicans never agree on Health Care.
Report: John Boehner says Obamacare won't be repealed and replaced - CBS News

To hammer it home--this is a sample of the Welcome Home Town Halls Republicans have been experiencing, and after watching a few of these other Republicans have been canceling their town hall meetings.

Senator Cotton of Arkansas gets ripped a new one:

This is going on in deep red states also. The GOP bill is a piece of crap. It targets people 50 & over and if you've got pre--existing conditions you're screwed. The below link is an AARP ad regarding it.
AARP ad says House GOP health care bill would boost insurance rates for older Americans - Denver7 TheDenverChannel.com

None of them are addressing the problem and the solution. Prescription drug costs. We are paying 3 to 6 times more for the same pill that Europe & Canada is. This skyrockets premiums, creates huge deficits in Medicare & Medicade--and instead of addressing the problem they just cut benefits.

Looks like Johnson voted yes, so the motion to open debate will probably pass I think.

They are forcing a man who has brain cancer to take a vote on a bill taking away peoples health coverage.

They're "forcing" him? Do they have a gun to his head? Is his family being held in a basement tied up? He wasn't forced to do anything. Despite his talk of integrity and bipartisan cooperation, he's a garbage human being and a moral coward.

Or maybe he thinks it is important and voted for what he thought best. I think the bill is horrible, I think it should die a painful death, but come on, calling people mindless names because you disagree with them?

Vote to extend debate on the floor.

Trump and McConnell have used every method of GOP arm-twisting. Even threatening to support super-conservative candidates in the primaries of any GOP moderate that votes no today.

My apologies, I should have couched my thoughts on him in snark, such as Matthew Yglesias successfully accomplishes here:

"Inspiring to see McCain risk his health so that millions could some day experience the unique freedom that comes from having no insurance."

In truth, though, this isn't a "disagreement" over Classic Coke vs. Coke Zero. Absolutely none of the facts surrounding this matter justify his vote to move the debate forward. Shall I list them or are we good?

Lol it's almost as if you think 'voting for what you think is best' and being a moral coward are mutually exclusive.

One doesn't preclude the other. In fact, the fact that McCain thought this was 'best', particularly given his situation and rhetoric, is exactly what makes him a moral coward.
