Of course if the congress wanted to do something they could

But that might help trump and the voters who elected him and they will never do that

It should be obvious to anyone with a frontal lobe that Trump's 'drain the swamp" was mere campaign rhetoric for public consumption. His actual policies are at best unthinking and unconcerned while at worst they are cruel and punishing to those that voted for him.

His stated sketch is a cruel assault on the health and financial security of tens of millions of Americans while rewarding the already rich. I don't know how anyone paying attention still believes that charlatan.

I don't know what you are talking about. Trump wants tax-cuts for the rich; repeal of Obamacare (even if it means sabotaging markets out of sheer spite); diminish or elimination of the social safety net; and massive deregulation -- just like Ryan and McConnell. That's the historic GOP policy objectives.

Democrats, on the other hand, want protect Medicare, Social Security, and health care reform, while protecting the environment, worker safety, worker rights, jobs and wages.

Trump wants tax cuts for everyone who pays taxes

And the rich pay most of the taxes

we are searching for obama voters who pay taxes

and if we find some they will get a tax cut also

Experts agree that his plan, such as it is, is skewed towards the rich. The rich get to eat a steak and everyone else gets what eventually emerges from the rich.

But please make up your mind. Obama voters can't be both freeloaders and also the Hollywood elite.

It is because they care more about maintaining power at all costs.

When the democrats passed the affordable care act, many of them knew they taking a risk but they voted for something they believed in.

Republicans, it seems, don't have the courage or the vision necessary to pass major legislation.

Because it was theatre. They get to be bold against Obamacare with their lunatic right-wing base while also knowing that Obama would save their butts by vetoing it.

Its their money that government is generously allowing them to keep.

As I said, if obama voters paid taxes they would get a tax cut also

That's an old tired argument. By that logic, people who take the subway in New York shouldn't have to pay to build highways to 'freeloaders' in Montana and Wyoming, who have lots of land but few people.

But the whole idea of insurance is that somebody else is paying bills. Most people don't have the funds for bypass surgery, which tells you right away that someone else is paying the hospital.

Fundamentally, this is an ideological divide. Liberals believe in a private-enterprise economy, but one in which society’s winners are taxed to pay for a social safety net. This, we believe, this is morally superior to the capitalism red in tooth and claw we had before the New Deal. We feel that the affluent should be taxed to help the less fortunate. Conservatives believe that people have a right to keep what they earn, and that taxing them to support others, no matter how needy, amounts to theft.

There was a time when Republicans believed in the basic idea that the government can be used as a tool to make people's lives better. However, over the last 40 years, they've moved so far to the right that they are nearly indistinguishable from the John Birch Society.

I think the national highway system can be defended on its merits if that is the hill you want to die on.

Because I don't live in Montana but I may drive through there someday and good roads benefit every one

Not so with welfare programs such as Medicaid and ObamaCare.

You are taking money from one person who earned it and giving it to another private person who did not earn it.

That makes the entire progressive tax system fundimentally unjust and predatory

The left used to support the socialist model of public ownership of the wealth to be distributed equally

But that system has failed to produce much wealth to be distributed.

So now "progressives" have adopted the fascist economic model of private ownership of the means of production and wealh but almost absolute government control of the wealth after its produced

As suggested by obama and elizabeth warren when he said to successfull Americans "You didn't build that"

Meaning goverenment has the right to claim all our earnings if it chooses

After all, if the public created the wealth then the public has first claim on the wealth

Which makes obama and warren closet marxists in my opinion
