We should show some balls in dealing with Russia. They should be made well aware that we will not hesitate to slaughter millions to protect our country.

After that point is made clear, we do whatever negotiating needs to be done.

On a side note: I love how the Libbos are suddenly kick-they-asses-badass-Muricans nowadays. :lamo

And I love how trump supporters are Russian bootlickers now. There is a reason congrsss had to stop trump from lifting sanctions like the Russian lover he is.

That statement doesn't mean much of anything. Showcasing you can inflict enormous casualties upon potential enemies is certainly severe but it says nothing to the determination of your own people, a when dealing with Russia given their vast nuclear arsenal. Saying we're willing to kill millions means little if we can't handle the death of a handful at home. That just means we can dish it out but can't take it.

If we want to make a point regarding out soveringty and our willingness to support it, it would speak more to indicate how much we're willing to suffer to protect it. Which is, in the end, the true marking of a strong people.

I believe Putin is knowledgable enough in history to know that the American people aren't afraid to roll around in the mud, the blood and beer for as long as it takes. He also knows that The United States fields the largest volunteer armed forces in the world. He also knows that a shootin' war will take place on his soil, because it would be suicide to invade the 48 states.

It's not the resilience of the individual American soldier that counts here, it's the national will and resolve of the American people. If Putin is knowledgeable about history then surely he recognizes that the American tolerance for casualties is not particularly high, something that would be unavoidable if we were to attempt an invasion of Russia.

Anyone halfassed knowledgable in history knows that Americans are more than willing to pay whatever the butcher's bill totals up to be, for the right reason. No doubt Putin knows this.

Except in Vietnam and Iraq. Anyone with a halfassed knowledge of politics knows that you can't wage a war without popular support, moreso in a democracy than any other type of government. The American public has historically reacted very badly to high American casualties. And despite Russia's transgressions against the USA, it's not enough to justify a war of total annihilation.
