Was CCN owed an apology?

Was CCN owed an apology?

He doesn't owe the company an apology, but maybe he does need to apologize to the journalists who work for CNN because beating up on CNN can easily be misconstrued at actually beating up on CNN journalists.

And if you say that is far fetched I just have to say that most people thought that of the pizzagate story. And some idiot still shot at the pizza place.

It was clearly inflammatory to nut jobs, and a subtle way of indicating it might be okay to treat CNN employees the same way. I'm reminded of Colorado's election last month when the GOP candidate body-slammed and repeatedly punched a reporter. A CNN reporter was outside doing the standard voter exit interviews, and was told by a very angry, very burly man that "she was lucky nobody took a swing at her". This vilification of media has real-world affects on real live people trying to do a job.

I clearly think CNN was owed an apology for this: https://www.debatepolitics.com/brea...o-has-history-anti-semitism-islamophobia.html

Nothing like seeing dozens of your employees' photos decorated with Stars of David over an anti-semitic rant about "Jews at CNN" to put targets on your people's backs for unstable nut jobs.

Nope. CNN needs to grow a pair and stop being a whiny-ass.

trump is the ultimate whiny-ass in the USA--as evidenced by his blatant irrational lies over the least important issues

CNN had no right to an apology...for a variety of reasons.

1. It's not against the law...nor even wrong...to make up a humorous product that makes CNN look bad.

2. Whoever created the thing that Trump tweeted is not responsible for what Trump does with the thing.

3. It's not even clear that the guy CNN threatened to dox is the person who created the thing that Trump tweeted.

trump is certainly irresponsible to say the least--SAD to see his posters defend each new trump embarrassment

BTW, other than a single article on their web page, I personally haven't seen a single mention of this dumb topic on CNN cable at all, so they certainly aren't whining about anything. MSNBC mentioned it once, the day it happened, nothing since. This is being strictly run by chat rooms, internet forums, Twitter and other social media, fueled by the usual group of far right internet bloggers.

Most of us frankly are more worried about what Trump is going to give away to Putin tomorrow, and what North Korea is planning than we are about some anti-semitic Reddit fan with a hard-on for CNN.

No comment on your post...just a clarification: That "body-slam" thing happened in Montana...not Colorado. (Colorado is pretty much run by Democrats and they are too much "girly-man" types to do any body-slamming.)

Thanks, I stand corrected! I should have used Google, but was lazy and relied on an obviously flawed memory. Appreciate the info!

The creator of the Trump vs CNN wrestling meme apologized profusely to CNN. Were they owed that apology?

Edit: Damn it. Before the smartass comments start, the poll question should be whether CNN was owed an apology, not CCN. I'm kinda between work stuff right now so I posted the question rather quickly and didn't check it before I hit the submit button.

I didn't notice the mistake.

My brain corrected it for me.

I'm glad the press is being scrutinized more closely and, yes, it's ok to sometimes ridicule them (poor babies * sniff*). They may be sacred cows to some, so long as they advance the correct agenda of course, but not to me. They gave up all even pretense of fair or even accurate reporting during the last election and actually tried to shape the outcome, rather than just reporting on it, so I'm glad that pedestal they think they're on gets shorter and shorter.

Now, given my little rant there, do I own CNN an apology? Should they come seeking one?

While I do think it's stupid for Trump to be posting memes on his Twitter account (the POTUS shouldn't be wasting his ****posting online) I find that argument to be quite ridiculous, frankly. It's just a stupid gif about Trump going after the media, that in no way means the media should be "physically attacked".

I think CNN is really reaching when coming to that conclusion.
Right. The notion of "provoking violence" is ridiculous.

However, Trump is to blame for creating the drama to begin with by re-tweeting it. If average citizen Joe Blow has re-tweeted it, no one would have cared. If wealthy-but-average-never-ran-for-office-citizen Donald Trump had retweeted it, it would have been a big 'meh'. But, because President Trump... complete with his recent history of creating throwing crap out... retweeted it, it created unnecessary drama.

CNN then should have offered a single eyeroll response, then let it go. CNN made the situation worse by adding fuel to the drama.

Short answer: Trump started it, CNN made it worse.

That emoji is one of my favorites. It's appropriate for all the sky is falling and wound licking threads around here.

How can they be so sure who created it?
