Trump is a right winger. That places him on the same quadrant of the continuum as conservatives - but Trump is far far worse than most principled conservatives. His authoritarian and fascistic tendencies should disgust most conservatives and his lack of concern for constitutional rights separates him from them as well.

No, he's not a conservative. He's a salesman who won the office, and in all probability, is regretting it by now.

I would think that maybe if they were truly sick and tired of RINO republicans and liberal democrats that wouldn't vote of the man who praised, supported and donated to the very people they claimed to be sick and tired of IE the establishment. Although I suppose this happens every presidential election. For example many of these same people who wanted Obama care repealed and claimed to support the 2nd amendment voted for a man who signed Romney-care and enacted anti-2nd amendment laws that Obama has wet dreams about being passed.

The thing is, Trump has an uncanny ability to make people believe that he is on the same side of a given issue as they are, even when his past performance says he's on the opposite side.
 
About the only thing that he's "conservative" on is immigration, and for that fact alone he was better than the rest of the "conservative" candidates.
