No, I don't think it will. There's too much public opposition to what the Republicans what to do; which is pretty much turning things back they way they were with less medicaid. The Democrats are ow charged with analyzing the 142 pages and reporting back on the things that are jacked up about it.

Reason Mac the Knife, cuts to Medicaid to ensure tax cuts for the rich keep it close and in hiding. Except for big pharma and lobbyists and certain Senators.
The more people see the guts of this bill, tax cuts for the rich, loss of HC, then the anger will rise.

I'm late to the thread, but yeah, it'll pass.

Several smart-yet-cowardly moves at play by the GOP. They negotiated the bill in secret. They hid it as much as they could.

Their base isn't going to read into the consequences of the bill, so those consequences won't actually matter much if it passes. Some of the worst cuts won't kick in till 2020 and later so a lot of the collateral damage might hit while democrats are in power. People tend to just blindly blame bad things on whoever is in charge.

What i find most pathetic is that their base won't even consider applying pressure to actually improve these kinds of issues.

There are 5 Republican Senators that are backing off this bill at this time. And for good reason. The House bill was horrible, and I don't think they've made that many changes to it that would make it better. Anyone 50 years or older would see their premiums skyrocket, as insurers are allowed to charge 5 times more than a younger person, and this is typically the age group that has pre-existing conditions--which insurers can also charge more for.

AARP came out and blasted this bill and are telling their members to contact their Senators immediately and tell them not to vote for this bill. In fact here is an advertisement that AARP put out, and at the end of the video you will get a fact check with. This is something everyone should watch--because this is definitely going to affect you if it passes.
AARP ad says House GOP health care bill would boost insurance rates for older Americans - Denver7 TheDenverChannel.com

I think if Republicans pass this health care bill, they might as well write their own obituaries. "Americans may not know how they got health care, but they'll sure remember who took it away from them.

They're still not addressing the real issue, which is the skyrocketing cost of health care in this country. Why is it that Americans are paying 2 to 3 times more for Prescription drugs than Canadians are? It's because Canada puts restrictions on the amount that can be charged for prescription drugs--while we're getting ripped off here in the States. Playing musical chairs with our health care isn't going to fix this. They need to sit down with Democrats and fix Obamacare and forget about the repeal/replace rhetoric.

Here are some of the consequences of passing this health care, I mean tax-reduction bill.

New York Time: Medicaid Cuts May Force Retirees Out of Nursing Homes

Medicaid pays for most of the 1.4 million people in nursing homes, like Ms. Jacobs. It covers 20 percent of all Americans and 40 percent of poor adults.

On Thursday, Senate Republicans joined their House colleagues in proposing steep cuts to Medicaid, part of the effort to repeal the Affordable Care Act. Conservatives hope to roll back what they see as an expanding and costly entitlement. But little has been said about what would happen to older Americans in nursing homes if the cuts took effect.
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/06/24/...n-region&region=top-news&WT.nav=top-news&_r=0In 2009, conservatives were shouting "death panels" to oppose the ACA. The ACA contained no death panels. However, the Senate and House GOP bills will result in throwing granny off the cliff.

Really, that's what you truly believe?

"As of this writing [June 20th], the bill is being negotiated behind closed doors by a subset of Republican senators. So far, few if any details from the negotiations have leaked out." In addition, McConnell wants quick vote, possibly by July 4th.

So, how in good conscience can you blame the Democrats, when they weren't allowed to participate or even read the bill before McConnell released it?

Sorry but those are the facts right now. They have no intentions of doing their job and working with the republicans on fixing our healthcare nightmare. They have stated they are the party of resistance and will do nothing but be a cog in the machine. Their words not mine.

Are you in favor of all having affordable HC??

Of course. But I do not believe rewarding lazy people is going to solve the problem. Do you know how many 3rd and 4th generation welfare people there are in this country. Welfare has become a way of life instead of helping hand to those in need.

Oh, you mean those "lazy" senior citizens that exhausted all of their life savings from work and now need Medicaid for their nursing homes? See: Medicaid Cuts May Force Retirees Out of Nursing Homes

What's wrong with you people? You care more about cutting taxes for the super-rich instead of senior citizens and working class Americans.

Would we want government running our grocery stores? No of course not. Before you know it the shelfs would be empty and whatever was on the shelfs we couldn't afford. So why would we want nationalized healthcare? The Republican plan is a backdoor to a single payer system. We are screwed either way. Obamacare Trumpcare same thing. Thank God for Mike Lee, Ted Cruz, and Rand Paul. Repeal the damn thing that's what we voted for. The answer is free market capitalism.

Your false narrative is that 'Democrats didn't want to work with Republicans on health care." That narrative is contrary to the actual facts. The Hill: Schumer wants all-Senate meeting on healthcare

Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) wants the entire Senate to meet next week to discuss healthcare as Democrats push the GOP to drop its effort to repeal and replace ObamaCare.

Schumer sent Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) a letter on Friday asking for an all-senators meeting to talk about the GOP legislation, which hasn't been finalized, adding that both parties "need to come together to find solutions to America's challenges."

"Please accept our invitation to sit down together in the old Senate Chamber so we can hear your plans and discuss how to make health care more affordable and accessible," Schumer wrote.

Where did I mention senior citizens who have paid into the system for their entire life. I didn't. So try again.

You are advocating cutting off Medicaid and justify that position for which you called, "rewarding lazy people." Yet, a good many of those Medicaid recipients worked all their lives and volunteered in the nation's military - e.g. not lazy people. I am therefore objecting to a repulsive characterization of Medicaid recipients.

It's medicare that workers pay into their entire working lives.. Medicaid is intended for the truly poor. Paying it out to 400% of the poverty level is asinine.

I never said anything about cutting off Medicaid. Try again.
