Russia Begins Airstrikes In Syria After Assad's Request : The Two-Way : NPR

The Russian military involvement follows a request from President Bashar Assad to President Vladimir Putin, according to Syria's state news agency, which reports that Assad asked for Russia's intervention in a letter that cited Russia's efforts to fight terrorism.

Why is the U.S. attacking fellow UN MEMBER Syria and arming and training terrorists in that country?

The UNITED STATES is acting against international law yet again just like it did in Nicaragua.

The U.S has no right to be in Syria, and especially should not be attacking Syrian soldiers and planes.

IMO we should not be in the Middle East at all unless it is a direct requirement of a treaty obligation (as we had with Kuwait during the first Iraq war).

Bush Jr. should not have dragged us in (SEALS could have taken out Osama without a full-fledge invasion of either Iraq or Afghanistan), Obama should have kept his promise to get and keep us out.

People should deal with their own governments per our ideal under the Declaration of Independence.

The Syrian government has no right to be gassing it's own people.

Which country is supporting a dictator who uses chemical weapons against his own people? Which country has threatened nuclear strikes against our allies in Europe?

Where is that report that confirms Assad gassed his own people?

Seeing as the Syrian regime claimed it was a "false flag" and the people in that town didn't actually die.... They've done it before, back in 2013, and them trying to fabricate a claim that the US "falsified" a strike doesn't look good for them.

I agree with you on iraq, but somewhat disagree with afganistan. In afghanistan we should have knocked out the taliban, and handed the country to the norther alliance who wanted moderate islamic government and had the military capability to hold that country. We never should have stayed there as long as we did had the northern alliance taken over, and I see afghanistan as an american screwup, as we helped them push the russians out but left them to hang afterwards which led the taliban and extremists to take over.

They, the Syrian government, will pay that bill inevitably but meantime ISIS must be dealt with. If ISIS can be taken out of the equation the whole mess can be dealt with locally.

Indeed. It would have been helpful if the Syrian government hadn't help create the mess via the rat lines allowing jihadis to enter Iraq easily, but

My government has no right to be spending MY US tax payer dollor$ in Syria

the Syrian people are NOT citizens of Pittsburg so, Trump should IMMEDIATELY withdraw ALL US forces from any involvement in the Syrian conflict :2razz:

Actually, they have the right to spend money wherever they so choose. It's kinda the point of them being the government.

The good people of Pittsburgh, I'm sure, would really rather not have to worry about ISIS launching terrorist attacks against them--- which could easily happen should we "cut and run".

So then you would agree that the U.S. should be fighting ISIS and not attempting to overthrow the government of Syria by arming and training terrorists in Syria.

Same way they got to London, or Paris. Either by radicalizing some numbskull on the Internet or slipping a sleeper agent into the country.

Yes, the U.S. is tripping over itself by also fighting the Assad government: which is only to the benefit of terrorists.

You'll have to ask Donald Trump, our current CinC.

Clearly you don't understand the slightest thing about terrorism......they don't need to "come through the computer" when their message can radicalize somebody born and bred here.

Of course, the Assad regime created the problem in the first place by treating it's people like dirt.
