Should a Casino Pay $43 million to a Woman for their Mistake?

Should the Casino pay Ms Bookman $43 million for their mistake?

In law suits and the courts less than a 1 year is NOTHING! These things take years and years. some cases decades.

Anyway The Left? Big companies are evil? Political advantage? This is about a casino and a SLOT MACHINE F'ing up!!!! A SLOT MACHINE!!!

WTF are you talking about? Do you Cons ever look at anything without injecting politics into it? How the hell do people like you get up every morning?

I think it's pretty much SOP.

So...Mr. blackjack50, here I am, innocently wandering around at DP and I stumble across these quotes....

Not all conservatives. Please blame the person. Not the group. **** the casino.

But how can we trust these criminal scumbags to not have a glitch every time someone wins a large pot? You can't. **** em. They are as corrupt as insurance and the fed.

I am a gator fan (happy with their performance too). I can't stand pro athletics. Especially the NBA. But I really enjoy watching UFC fights. But with the whole rebok scandal? It makes me want to boycott it. They need a union or to fire than bald headed bastard Dana white. **** him.

Such anger!!
I must ask you if you had a rough weekend.
Did your card-counting skills fail you?
Did you lose money on the Ward-Kovalev fight?
Just askin'.

It's odd, I think that when you gamble, there's some probabilities involved on both sides. House has the advantage, but there's always the chance they lose. The "glitch" thing is just that everything is essentially pre-meditated. A machine is programmed to pay out certain number of times and the outcomes are relatively well known. It's why they can say this is a glitch, it's that the machine wasn't supposed to put up the jackpot and it did.

On some front, the casino is well protected against this and she won't win. I'm sure this lawsuit has been tried before. On the other hand, the very basics of gambling relies on probability and a "glitch" isn't cheating. So perhaps the glitch should just be part of the probability.

The left always wants the little guy to win, even if they are in the wrong and they are always against big business because big businesses are uncaring satans. You could care less what signs were posted, such as the limit of the machine was only $6500 and that a sign clearly stated that malfunctions are not paid as long as you can fight for the little guy and screw big business.

LOL. I guessing because Trump is a casino owner in your partisan eyes now all casinos are good and pure and never wrong. Again it's all politics with you guys. Politics all the time, 24/7.

Most here, INCLUDING ME said they should pay her the $6,500, NOT the $43 mil. But you ignore that so you can get your partisan, all Libs are evil and hate big business shots in.

Pitiful.

Forum Stalking is kinda weird brah.

Anyway. I hate Casinos. Sue me? I don't mind gamling. I just don't do it in an establishment that was likely founded on the blood of innocent people. Ever seen Casino? I have.

I don't like pro sports because they are a bunch of pansy ass crybabies who get paid a lot of money for a game. And as important as it is to me for them to make fair wages...I have little tolerance for the ones like Aaron Hernandez who thinks he is untouchable because his coaches protected his sorry ass. Or when the ones who make $10,000,000 a year think they have a right to bitch and whine like a kid over nothing.

As for Dana white. That sack of crap screwed his fighters with the rebok deal. He is allowed to be seen in Nike? But his fighters (HIS?) cannot wear air Jordan shoes into a weigh in? Dana White pretends to go to bat for them...but he doesn't. And he cuts deals that hurt the integrity of the sport.

I'm a cynic.

This has nothing to do with Trump and everything to do with a posted sign which stated the top payout for that machine was $6500 and another posted sign warning that malfunctions are not paid.

Uh.. I'm a Trump supporter who A)started the thread & B) voted yes on my own poll. The only hackery here is your insistence on bringing Trump into this discussion.

The casino is going to come to court with a stack of evidence showing the machine malfunctioned, I mean how could a machine offer 43M when it's top payout is $6,500, and she will come to court with a selfie.

I think the casino will win.

Disclaimers that say what? "If you win more than we're willing to pay, it's a glitch"?

nope but close.

“Machine malfunction voids all pays and plays”.

I don't gamble, but if I did I would never do it at a casino.

The odds always favor the House in every game the House controls.

Poker is about the only place one has any real chance of exercising any skill for profit, and that's because it's not a "House" game.

So, if the odds are massively in favor of the House, how can they possibly balk when once in a rare while the odds get beat and someone scores a big win?

IMO they should pay, "disclaimers" notwithstanding.

It's actually in their best interests, as big wins like this draw people hoping to score big too...and those people will lose and lose and...you get the picture.

Stiff a winner? People won't gamble there for fear if they win... they'll be cheated too.

This Casino made a mistake not paying the lady out. :coffeepap:

Some games have better odds for the house and others in the short term you can actually win.
the longer you play though the better the odds for the house are.

yes poker is better odds for you.

the games are supposed to be based on fair play. if something causes it not to be fair then why should someone reap the rewards.
big wins do draw crowds, but this is also to prevent people from tampering with the machine and winning.

if they had to pay out on every glitch that occurred (which are few and far between) what is to determine that glitch wasn't introduced by and outside
person.

it has happened before and continues to happen this day.

they will end up settling. although they usually go to court and win.

The article said the machine maximum payout was $6500, but that was from the Casino spokesperson,
and could have meant that most ever paid out on that machine.
If the real maximum was $6500, (not determined by the Casino) then the winning screen was indeed a glitch.
If on the other hand the $43 million payout was statistically possible, then I think the Casino owes here some money.

Going for the full $43M is her mistake, IMO. In a lawsuit, I mean. If she had sought $6500, per what was noted as the max, I believe she'd have more support and sympathy and might actually have a chance. $43M just comes off and unreasonable and greedy, though.
Im still thinking this through and not yet completely decided but i have to ask why is the display wrong and the ticket right?

Imo she should get a minium of the 6500 but if it were me i would sue for the whole amount too.

The house should be held liable for their equipment. Sorry about their LUCK that a machine hit that was not suppose to. Its called gambling

no
They could give her a free lessen on how to read .. she may not know !
$6,500 and nary a penny for lawyers ..
Otherwise , a ten year case and 90% for the lawyers, she may either end up with $6,500 or nothing.
Greed can be deadly !
Only fools gamble .

Well, there is the time-tested tactic of suing for an outrageous amount while actually planning to settle for less, but more than you realistically should.

But then you're saying it is pointless for them to put up signs such as the machine's limit and that malfunctions will not be paid. They put the signs up for a reason. If you are going to disregard the signs then there's no reason to put them up in the first place.

No, i said as much in another posy when i heard about the signs that perhaps the 6500 should be the cap because that was posted.
