Word this Friday afternoon is that many observers in DC will not be surprised if Trump orchestrates the firing of Robert Muller to thwart the investigation which apparently is broadening and will look into Trump business concerns as well as obstruction of justice. A tweet this morning appeared to be setting the stage for this development which would be akin to the infamous Saturday Night Massacre of Watergate era fame.

A simple question: if that happens, will you then support impeachment of Trump by the House of Representatives?

Two clear choices --yes or no.

I took too long to set up the poll.

Can a friendly mod add to it with two simple choices

If Robert Muller is fired, do you support impeachment of President Trump?

YES - I support impeachment.
NO - I do not support impeachment.

Thank you.

If Trump fires Mueller, it is not to thwart the investigation. He knows that would only increase the interest and speculation. The same btw was true for Comey. So, if he does it, we should ask why.

It's OK with you that Comey's friend "Mueller" runs the investigation?

Please don't ever expect to be taken as rational..............................ok?

It was OK for the Trump DOJ and the GOP...
Do you think they weren't aware that Mueller was Comey's mentor?

Friend has nothing to do with honor and honesty, two words that trump has nothing to do with .

Is Mueller's friendship with Comely something new? The GOP runs the whole government yet Mueller was appointed. Why all the outrage NOW about his 'friendship' with Comely?

Why? Because all of this is just a preemptive strike by Trump and his Lemmings if/when Mueller lowers the boom on Trump.

Nope. I support the firing of Mueller.

1. Mueller never should have been hired in the first place.

2. This is an investigation in search of a crime, not a crime in search of a culprit.

The head of Stalin's liberal secret police once said:
“Show me the man and I’ll find you the crime.”
~~~Lavrentiy Pavlovich Beria
The establishment in D.C. should not be taking their cue's from Stalin but they are, which is why the swamp needs to be drained. Mueller needs to be fired, and immediately following that so does Rosenstein.
I don't give a rat's ass about what they say. It's agenda driven and you know it.
Considering that he was interviewed to be the new FBI Director- yeah he must be corrupt.
So you are unable to come up with a reasonable response to my question.
Duly noted... and absolutely no surprise.
Nothing better to do than engage in idle speculation, eh?
Wow, did this thread go sideways fast!
Yes, I very much support impeachment.
I also believe the post-Nixon "Special Prosecutor" rule needs to be re-instated (it was removed in the '90's). It made the indie prosecutor immune to obstruction by the President.
Friends? Every major player in Washington knows every other major player.
Pink slip? Trump doesn't have the cajones to fire Mueller.
WTF does that have to do with anything?
1. Comey is not a target of the investigation, so there is no conflict of interest here.
2. Mueller is a highly respected veteran of the FBI, eminently qualified to investigate this matter, and highly regarded by all parts of the political spectrum.
3. McMahon was an entertainer and Walters was a journalist. Neither is qualified to conduct a federal law enforcement investigation. Both of them are friends with a major target of the investigation.
There's no evidence of any 'agenda' here or you'd be able to demonstrate it.
Both Mueller and Comey are lifelong Republicans. Between them, they served under Reagan, Bush HW, Clinton, Bush W, Obama, and Trump.
These are the guys that went to the bedside of Richard Ashcroft in 2004 & said if unlawful wire-tapping didn't stop immediately they'd quit.
Unlawful wiretapping would have made them even more powerful given what their jobs as Deputy Attorney General and head of FBI.
But it was unlawful and stretched the limits of privacy and these guys pretty clearly believe in the constitution, so they threatened to quit over it.
If you think that this somehow, magically, equates to some 'agenda', other than getting to the bottom of what may have actually happened, you might reconsider thinking things through.
That's simply not the way this poster does things.
I disagree.
Can't say it will happen, but I think there's a reasonable chance Trump will fire him himself, or pressure Rosenstein or Sessions to do it.
If Rosenstein won't do it, I wouldn't put it past Trump to force him to recuse, resign, or be replaced, so Trump can then appoint a lackey in Rosenstein's place to do it.
I believe with Mueller at the helm of the investigation, Trump is a cornered animal, and desperate. Mueller has the potential to cause havoc in every facet of Trump's being: his Presidency, his fortune, his family, his business, his reputation, even his freedom.
I think Trump believes he is fighting for his life, here.
He knows that this finally threatens to expose and his long history of contact and possible financial relationships with what is essentially the Russian mob. It's clearly affecting his mentation/cognition, emotional stability and likely physical health. Many decades of corruption on his part could very well be exposed, and he feels he's trapped, as he should.
Any of the actions that you mentioned would tip the scale and set loose a firestorm. Trump supporter seem to forget that there was a large never-Trump bloc of Republicans. That same bloc will tote the party line and favor the President as long as its good for the party. As soon as it isnt, they will turn on Trump fast. And that Senate bill with Russian sanctions shows that the scale is already starting to tip.
But what percentage of republicans are trump supporters? And how many would remain in the party if the never trump republicans decide to dump trump?
Or you for that matter, if you insist on going down that drain pipe.
DP Posters are different than politicians when it comes to personal insults.
We both insulted politicians but you personally insulted me, RetiredUSN. .
