Donald Trump. You need to get rid of that moron before you can even begin to start working together. I thought Obama created barriers between Americans, but twittman has two modes, love and hate. If you don't adore him he hates you and will attack over the slightest provocation, driving wedges into even his allies.

He has already alienated Muslims and Muslim countries, started a trade war with Canada...soon you won't have any friends on the outside while he gives his great "You're fired!" to anyone who is "loyal"

goes further back than that when America took on the role of the world policeman ... you have made things way worse supported dictators, toppled governments you don't like and replaced them with despots like the shah, the wars in Iraq, Afghanistan (Afghanistan was America's mess you armed and trained the mujahadeen, invested billions in islamic schools in Pakistan which has ended up destabilising Pakistan and when the Afghan war ended you walked away and left Afghanistan and Pakistan to pick up the pieces of your mess, then their is Syria, Libya and Ukraine.

Your country used neo nazis to topple the democratically elected president of Ukraine because he choose Russia over the west .. what happened to Never Again after WW2 was it some meaningless words to your politicians ... in Scotland when we said it we meant it when your country went in bed with Pravi Sektor and Svoboda you tarnished the sacrifices made by American service men during WW2 ... they made WW2 Nazi war criminals like Bandera and the leaders of the OUN/UPA national heroes ... some heroes they murdered between 100k to 300k Poles and over 50 Jews ... you did nothing when the ukrainian nazis committed genocide in Odessa and Mariupol when the UKrainian nationalist blockaded then set the Trade union building in fire with dozens in fire .. people jumping from windows only to be clubbed to death on the ground ... then they assaulted the building when the fire went out killing those still alive in the building including a 6 month pregnant woman strangled with a telephone cable between 52 and over 100 perished in the attack a week later Oleh Lyshako's volunteer battalion opened fire on the Mariupol police station with BTR80 APCs and RPGs killing 52 police and killing 10 civilians wearing St Georges ribbons ... our two party system is failing for a couple of reasons.

1. we're still too tribal and innately in-group / out-group hardwired for this system to ever work long term.

2. political issues are more complex and nuanced than a binary system could address.

as for potential solutions to this, they seem extreme and unlikely to be implemented. i have some less extreme stopgap proposals, but those would almost certainly fail to pass, as well.

If it ever existed. The hatred of President Trump, mostly because he was brash enough, impudent enough, and smart enough to defeat Queen Hillary, is more powerful than any concept of patriotism, willingness to do the right thing for the American people, or common sense. And an almost 100% leftwing anti-anything conservative media is fanning the flames every way it can think up to do so and they don't care whether it is thoroughly dishonest.

I was looking for other information earlier this morning and ran across this old article that clearly represents the disconnect between the politically correct and permanent political class point of view and the truth. And even this British site got it wrong when they mentioned President Trump's Muslim ban instead of accurately reporting it as a temporary travel ban.

While I agree with most of your post (only exception is that I support Isreal), I don't see those issues as a larger threat to America. If the poll was about the largest threat to stability in the world then I would agree. I feel this is an entirely different subject.

I think both parties need to take a long look in the mirror before bashing the other. There really is no difference in the tactics both use, the only differences are the actual policies and even then Republicans never actually do what they campaign on so at the end of the day both parties might as well be one and the same.

To be fair there has been fake news coming from the Far-Left. But your claim that both sides use the same tactics is simply false. Liberal blogs and social media have lit up in condemnation against the guy who opened fired on the Republicans prior to their annual baseball game. I am not as convinced that had the sides been flipped, the condemnation would have been as strong.

I believe that the condemnation would have been stronger. You also have people like the Huffpo guy saying violence is the logical reaction to Trump.

The only real difference would be wall to wall coverage about how Trump and conservative media are the ones responsible for the shooting.

The urge to categorize people as same or different eventually leads to an "us vs them" dichotomy, in my opinion. That dichotomy is not bad so long as it is to form a mutual progress. Once it sways from mutual progress to anything else it becomes a dangerous "us vs them" dichotomy because their would be a shift in fairness of who struggles and who is rewarded during the progression.

I believe partisanship is the greatest threat to America at the moment. Not because partisanship is bad, but because the partisans have agendas that don't represent their communities. Democrats are labeled anti-gun and republicans are labeled pro-gun for example. Which are dichotomies that do not represent the whole and creates confusion, division, and delay to the parties and communities progress.
 
Imho, the correct choice was not offered; it is that our leadership, put there by we the people, do not adhere to constitutional law, regardless of the oaths they took. Sadly, hordes of us are quite ignorant of it as well, which makes rectifying such a problem quite the Herculean task.
