Of course, it'll be hoisted as a lie if they don't become public, as if the anti-Trumpers have a ****ing clue, either way.

Hell, we don't even have confirmation that the memos exist. Comey conveniently deleted the originals (how about that?). The likelyhood of the tapes's existance may be the reason that the memos don't exist all of a sudden. Comey might be saying "eh...nevermind" in the near future.

No.. He lied, but it's been proven time and time again, him lying doesn't matter to his supporters.

He'll say he has them and listened to them, and they proved Comely lied, but then he'll never follow through or produced them because they don't even exist.

He did the same thing with the Birther nonsense and lies. Remember that 'team' he was going to send to Hawaii to further investigate? Never happened. The whole Birther BS just faded away and his followers let it go and let him slide by with a lie. Until there are consequences for his lies there's no reason for him to stop lying.

He'll use the same tactic now.

What lie? Trump did not say tapes existed or did not exist. He only told Comey that he had better hope there were none. and Comey was spooked.

Why threaten and withhold? What purpose does that serve???

The same question could be asked of Comey: where are the original memos?

Biographer Timothy O’Brien knows exactly what booted FBI Director James Comey is going through. Like Comey, O’Brien was accused of lying by Donald Trump — and Trump threatened to reveal tapes of the conversations. But the litigious real estate developer eventually admitted in a deposition that he was the one who had misrepresented the truth 30 times — and acknowledged that he had no tapes.

Trump sued O’Brien in 2005 for $5 billion over his book TrumpNation: The Art of Being The Donald. But Trump lost the case, and ended up admitting to a litany of lies at his 2007 deposition.

Trump has often said over the year to reporters, “I just want to let you know I’m taping you right now,’” O’Brien, formerly of HuffPost and now executive editor at Bloomberg View, said Sunday on CNN’s “Reliable Sources.” He also “said it multiple times during my interviews with him.”

When Trump finally admitted there were no tapes, O’Brien said his attorney asked him why he had lied. “He essentially said: ‘I wanted to intimidate him,’” O’Brien recalled.

I doubt there are tapes. But I would only be mildly surprised if I am wrong.

However, this should not be counted among Trump's many lies because Trump never said there are tapes.

Sorry for my ambivalence, but I don't know...and I don't really care.

If the "tapes" exist, big deal. What does anybody expect them to show?

If they don't exist, big deal...unless, of course, you think there's something on them that can be spun against Trump. Kind of like those tax returns. Nobody cares about his returns except how they can be spun against him.

Whether they exist or not, Trump has once again jerked the Mainstream Media's chain.

I hope you're not insinuating that Trump tried to influence a witnesses' upcoming testimony through veiled threats. lol

Come on, Bob. To insinuate that tapes of a private conversation exist amid an ongoing investigation of that matter -- without provocation -- is blatantly dishonest. Intent to mislead is a lie. If there are tapes, and he produces them, then I'll admit he wasn't lying.

He insinuated there were tapes. If they don't exist, then why the **** did he mention them? When he was asked about them from a reporter, he acted as though they exist. Why pretend?

What would you think if I went up to your wife and said "you better hope I don't have video of Bubba having sex with a monkey!" What do you honestly think she'd think of that?

I don't know? Congress has copies of them, I do know that.

I am certain they do exist, however even though they are required by law to be archived, they would need to be drawn into court otherwise they stay archived until declassified or mandated by foia.

Most likely though those tapes would not be much different than comeys testimony, other than maybe portraying how each person felt during the conversations.
