Hard telling with the orange sphincter. My guess is yes, or he will try some kind of injunction. Knowing what a serial pathological liar he is, Comey's testimony will show he lied about their meeting.

Trump could force a government employee NOT to testify but Comey is no longer employed by the government aka he is a private citizen
Trump can go **** himself ............

Can he legally do so?

At any rate, why would He. His is the most transparent administration ever and He has nothing to hide. Right?

He can legally do so but the problem is once again his big mouth and prior statements are a problem -- just like he's jeopardized one of his EO's by showing the real intent. Trump's already stated what went on in the meeting, and what was said according to him, so he can't claim that he wants to keep what was said in the meeting secret, which is usually the intent of the EP. Furthermore it's said since Comey is now a civilian it makes the EP more difficult.

I would make no prediction because trying to predict the actions of a mentally deranged person are never a wise thing to attempt. I will say two things

1 - I greatly look forward to what Comey has to say when he does testify
2- I dearly hope Trump tries to stop him by exerting privilege as it will only damage Trump even more plus make for an even bigger audience when Comey wins in the courts and testifies eventually.

Will Trump assert executive privilege and block former FBI Director James Comey from testifying to Congress next week?

I see the left and their media partners are working the latest coordinated talking points.

A quick Google confirms CNN, Reuters, NYT, WaPo, ABC, NBC, USAToday, and others have all hit this TP within the last 24-36 hours.

On what do they base this conjecture?

Nothing.

Just like what can be seen in the topic.

If Trump calls for EP it will once again bring echoes of Richard Nixon and Watergate.

It may as well since the script has been oddly identical in far too many instances already.

Talking point? I see it a very newsworthy question.

Seems to me any American that cares about this country should look forward to Comey's testimony and prefer to not see it blocked.

If you want to keep your head in the sand and keep enabling Trump fine with me, but I want to hear what the former head of the FBI has to say.

Amazing how history repeats itself and people in power never learn by digging themselves deeper and deeper. Seems their arrogance always gets them in the end.

The Trumpkins nationwide need to adopt those three monkeys with hands over various head parts as their mascot.

There's no reason to...after all, Trump has said over and over he hasn't pressured Comey and that there is no "there" in the Russian thing. I don't see what Comey could say to hurt Trump. On the other hand, Comey will also have to answer questions...or weasel his way out of them...about Obama admin spying and unmasking. Trump won't bock that, for sure.

I'd say Reuters is engaging in that popular pastime of late...spin, innuendo and speculation. Yawn-worthy birdcage liner.

I don't think Trump tries to block Comey. The way Comey speaks and answers question is so careful and guarded that it makes it almost impossible for him to reveal anything sensational. I don't think he will all of the sudden open up about a bunch of different things that he has refused to speak on. Instead we will probably get some vague answers that leave room for the left to call damaging and the right to dismiss completely.

I voted no. It would be political suicide. Even for The Donald. He knows that.

But, then again, he did pull out of the Paris Climate Agreement.

I really haven't a clue what that buffoon will do next.

In Trumps case I would bet he knows next to nothing about Watergate or any of the lessons that emerged from it. He is an amazingly ignorant man about the very field that he now heads up.

I've read that while he can't block Comey individually, he can possibly use executive privilege to have the testimony canceled altogether. *If* that's true, then he will. Yes, he will look horrible and guilty, but I think that boat sailed a long time ago.

So my vote is yes, contingent on his legal ability to do so.

The only people floating the executive privilege meme is the left and their media partners. I haven't suggested he use it, and I haven't suggested Comey be blocked from testifying.

Rather lame on your part to expose such gullibility and then let it float into accusations against me that are nothing but a figment of your imagination.

If Comey had evidence that Trump tried to obstruct justice, why would Mueller allow him to reveal it rather than using it in his investigation?

He certainly has the right to. The FBI operates under the Justice Dept, so both answer to the Executive Branch. So that's a no brainer. But Trump really doesn't give a bleep about that, AFAIK, so he is willing to let Comey have at it. Can't bitch about that... but some will... LOL

And those of you who say Comey isn't under Executive Privilege are wrong.

Nah, he can't use executive privilege. He's already blaterhed quite publicly about what Comey will testify about, and hence it doesn't apply.

That's an argument I've seen as well, and I believe that applies to Comey individually. But the hearing as a whole? What works in Trump's favor is that since tradition has no hold over him, he's able to go where legal precedent hasn't first set foot.

Well, seeing as it's a senate hearing, I don't see where he'd derive that authority from.

They'd just point at him and laugh. Something I'm sure he's used to by now.

We'll certainly see. The last year and a half has been one long, uninterrupted civics lesson in the workings of our government.
