And they are free not to go to the museum if they don't wish.
Plenty of holocaust material as well and I have no problem with it. (I'm Jewish and my grandparents came from the Polish / Russian border area I believe). In fact most of the people who visit the Smithsonian and other museums and monuments in DC are tourists. I was there a few years ago and am going at the end of the month. While my wife is attending conferences I will be sight seeing. Should be fun. Some bar hopping and casino gambling will also be in the itinerary.

Montgomery,Alabama would be a much better location for those White-Supremacist monuments.

Just saying.

I think that decision should be put up to a vote by the citizens of New Orleans. They should be able to vote to destroy them, sell them to a 3rd party, put them back up, put them in a museum, relocate them to another public area or store them forever or store them for future use .

I think you're right. If the people of New Orleans wants to keep them, destroy them, do whatever with them, it's their city. This should be strictly up to them. Those living outside of New Orleans shouldn't be able to force their views upon the city one way or the other. Whatever the city decides, I'm fine with it.

I don't speak for the folks in New Orleans, I don't think others should either.

Maybe. I agree with not holding them up as "heroes" by removing them from places of prominence. But I also wish to preserve historical pieces and have them available for public viewing. Its been a while since I've been to the Smithsonian. I will report on some of the more controversial exhibits.
