If person walks up to a black person and starts harassing them over race, calling them a "NI**ER", over and over; what the **** do you think should be done?

Which is wholly oblivious to the nature of how words can instigate violence. Letting people walk around like that actually does lead to situations like Dylan Roof. Is what he did somehow magically okay if he has a mental illness?

If you think it's the right thing to do, you can slap them and then deal with whatever legal consequences result. I can't honestly evaluate this hypothetical situation without a lot more information.

I don't think their genders are terribly relevant. The idea that "men should never hit women" is, itself, sexist. Men shouldn't beat their wives, but women shouldn't beat their husbands, either.

I am shocked to hear people here saying that she got what she deserved, etc.

What stupidity... she was not blocking him in any way. He was free to leave. He should be charged with assault and put in jail... he is also a total ***** hitting a woman just sitting there.

It takes more courage and resilience to endure the stupidity of others than it does to strike out like an angry child simply because you are insulted or offended.

It also shows a greater confidence and sense of self-worth to recognize you are not validated by what other's may say. Otherwise, you empower them by reacting exactly as they expect you to. :yes:

Words can only "instigate violence" if they are intentionally designed to incite people to riot, murder, and mayhem. This would include cries to burn places down, hang so-and-so, physically attack someone, etc.

Claiming that someone using a word you feel gives you the right to punch them simply because "feelings" or "history" is just SJW-PC nonsense. Words can only harm you if YOU empower them.

Meanwhile, my quoted response stated there are several non-violent options, listing only two as an example.

Someone calls you a name or says something you don't like?

Ignore it, walk away, make fun of them, or engage them in a game of insults; to name just a few rational responses.

There is NO JUSTIFCATION for striking someone for merely saying something that upsets you. PERIOD!

Agreed. But it seemed like the direction was going towards this being worse due to racism and sexism.


As in, if it had been a black dude smacking another black dude, this thread would have never happened.

Is there any doubt that if it had been a black woman saying the same thing to him, that he wouldn't have done anything?

Who is the racist in this situation?
