Yes is my vote, though it should be qualified. Candidates should make almost everything transparent to the public right down to the community level. Demanding it only for the top job is dishonest

I vote no. If a citizen isn't required to show them neither should a political candidate. With that being said I think it's a good idea that a candidate would to help establish transparency.

No. But I do believe in holding politicians accountable for their campaign promises. Particularly promises that are 100% in the politician's power to keep.

Proof of filing, maybe.

Why should Trump release a tax return a foot thick (or more) so every CPA in the USA can dig though it and second guess and criticize Trumps returns.

Most of today's politicians are "rent-seekers" and have traded on their names and connections since they have been in politics. It makes for a simple Turdo-tax style return.

Trump would be a fool to release his returns.

Citizens they may be...but they're running for government office because they want to tax and govern over you...so it might be wise to know as much as you can about them before they get into office than after.

I get that. If it came down to whether or not one candidate or the other released their taxes it would be the first time it was that close between them for me.

Unfortunately it's been proven now that we need some rules to stop somebody like Trump from getting into office again. The people who "know what's best for themselves" can't be trusted to properly vet a presidential candidate that is, well, uh, a con man so apparently we have to save these people from themselves.

A candidate that doesn't show their returns indicates a lack of transparency and perhaps even something to hide....and that's how corruption seeps into government. Knowing how they spend their money would help me to know if I should trust them to spend mine.

Thats what the free press is for and why it has specifically enumerated rights. If you arent getting all the information, blame them. Then again when you are intimidated like Rosen....

I don't disagree with you and frankly I wouldn't vote for them, but it shouldn't be mandatory.

Well hell... even after Trump has done 3x worse than anybody could have imagined and is possibly the most corrupt, lying president in history... THEY STILL LIKE HIM! Something has to be done, right comrade?

The free press has been clamoring for Trump to release his tax returns since he first announced his candidacy. So I can't blame them...I have to blame Trump because he's the one that won't release them.

Trump hiding behind Rosenstein's reputation to fire Comey was despicable.

Just because the free press clamors doesnt mean anyone has to comply. They did eventually get a tax return did they not? Without his compliance. What does Comey have to do with tax returns?

If he's afraid of the press then he shouldn't have run for office. The press is the fourth pillar of democracy. Anyway, I don't think Trump's released anything yet....he just talks about it. The press found a few old returns from 15 or 20 years ago...but nothing recent that I'm aware of.
