I haven't been here long at all. I've managed to have two threads moved and been assigned some demerits for 'Breaking News' post that I did not read the rules on. My bad! My question refers to this outlet. Is it a good place to have a vigorous 'debate' or is this a place to 'blow off steam'? I have observed some threads where two posters almost take over the thread and it devolves into a 'I know you are, but what am I', kind of a back and forth. There others that seem to post the most outrageous things to elicit a response. Some posters seem to love to catch another poster in a syntax or spelling error. So here's the poll...

You can get good debates, but it becomes an effort to keep people on task.
Many have a tendency to deflect, if you make a point!

Great thread! I voted "other."

Sorry I tried to delete the post, couldn't get comfortable with the categories!

You could ask a mod to close it. Don't know what you mean by "couldn't get comfortable with the categories."

A little barry white and some massage oil always helps me get the categories comfortable

The rest of the forum doesn't want to hear about your "categories."

You'll get a mixture of all. There are some who are not worthy of debate so I'll only give them dismissive responses. Then there are those who you can have a good exchanged with and it's all good.

While some threads certainly deteriorate into vitriol, some really good debates can also be had. Just remember that when it comes to courtesy and respect, you get what you give.

Did you read the rules on posting in the Poll section? You and the forum rules just seem to have a contentious relationship.

I am fairly new here myself, I just left another political forum due to the constant trolling. I was given a warning for pointing out that a VIP member was a constant troll, 5 minutes later I was infracted for it (having heeded the warning. I asked the mods 3 different times why I was given a warning if they were gonna just infract me, I was totally ignored.

If you let VIP's get away with being trolls....

Compared to that forum, the difference is night and day.

Over time you will learn to pick your battles. Some people are worth engaging and some aren't.

Hey, Dallas!
