My guess is it will be someone we haven't heard of yet. It'll happen, but it will probably be several more decades from now. Ol' Warren certainly won't be around for it.

This; they are all very far off the mark.

But if significant life extension technologies/treatments become a thing before these people kick it, they suddenly become among the most likely to reach a trillion, alongside other peers like Amancio Ortega and Carlos Slim who nobody ever talks about (and they probably prefer it that way).

You also forgot the Koch Brothers (not that they're at all a serious possibility).

A little off topic I guess, but I would be studying and investing in companies that are into power generation.

Batteries, solar, and geothermal are the future.

I think one of the first trillionaires will come from this area of combined research & commerce.

3 years ago, I had to haul a heavy ass compressor and air lines up 3 flights of stairs, then make another trip for my nail guns. And then, break out a generator to power the compressor, and run down to put gas in it every 3 hours.

Today, I use Dewalt 15 - 16 - 18 gauge flex volt nailers and framing guns that last me all day long on a single charge. The technology is incredible and job site setup time is cut by 75%.

I thank god every day for those nerds who thought science was cool when they were younger. ;)

I don't think it's anyone who has been born yet. Certainly none of the people mentioned in the pole. They are all more than an order of magnitude away from being trillionaires, and I don't see any circumstances under which any of them will be able to increase their wealth that massively.

~ Who will become the first Trillionaire

Whoever first manages to set up off planet mining. May not even have to be another planet, the moon may have plenty of very rare minerals or metals under that surface.

Whoever or whatever company creates the world's first strong artificial intelligence.

putin
he's already there

'None of the above' should have on the list....Bill Gates right now is the riches man in the world and is worth $81 billion...a long way from a trillion.

I had a friend who got a settlement from an insurance company of $60K and invested it in Microsoft when the stock first come out...unfortunately he sold after the first split. if he had keep the stock longer he would be a milt-millionaire today.

Too bad that the right decided it would be politically advantageous for them to tell their base that the overwhelming scientific consensus on AGW is actually a left wing plot to....

...to erm....

...to do things, for reasons. Don't think about it. Just "believe" that it's a hoax and vote GOP!

You mention "batteries, solar, and geothermal"; all that stuff is either part of or related to clean energy research. And clean energy is exactly what the GOP has taken aim at, in favor of fossil fuel special interests. It's starting to look like if the world first trillionaire does come from a business in those areas, it will be a foreign business, thanks to the GOP's alienation from science, which it sold to its base.

I hope no one. In USA there are millions of people who can not provide for themselves and live a life of poverty and drugs.
