Do you feel sorry for RWNJs who voted against their best interests?

Do you feel bad for hicks who vote GOP against their own good?

  • No, screw them. They get what they deserve for their stupidity and hate.

  • Yes, they may be stupid and racist, but I still feel bad for them

Yes, because it's their children that have to pay for their stupidity and bigotry.

Screw their children. It's not my job to care for other people's children. If their dumb yokel parents wanted their children to not suffer, they wouldn't have voted Trump. As for me, I couldn't give less of a rat's as if their children choke on the polluted air or die from the lack of health insurance that their parents voted for.

So it's okay for Trump's and his supporters to call immigrants "rapists," declare all Muslims "terrorists," and call progressives "traitors," but when I call out dumb hicks for what they are, I'm in the wrong? What gives?

Oh look, it is what is known as a straw man argument. Since you are new, I will help you out: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Straw_man

Now, here is why your post is a straw man: I did not say, nor claim, nor imply in any ****ing way that any of that is OK. In point of fact, I call out bad arguments, no matter who makes them. Just because some people say stupid **** does not mean you should say stupid ****. It also helps to realize that not all Trump supporters do what you claim, and in fact I would suggest most do not.

The goal of political debate is to convince others to your point of view. Posting like a douche is not going to cost Trump a single vote, nor any republican. What matters is not how horrible Trump voters are(or are not), but how to convince them to vote otherwise next time. The best way to do that is talk about issues, and how those issues affect Trump voters.

I am intolerant of intolerance. I do not tolerate those who wish harm on others due to the color of their skin or their sexual orientation. The voters in Kentucky and West Virginia proved their hate and racism by voting Trump, and therefore I have no tolerance or patience for them.

That's weird, because you said:

I do not respect racist, sexist, or bigoted views, and will . . . .react strongly to any hate or xenophobia directed against me or any of my fellow citizens.

But here you're saying that there are fellow citizens you're perfectly happy to spew hate against, and are bigoted against.

It's so confusing that someone like you, who's clearly so golden-hearted, loving, and kind toward all of his fellow humans, could be one to dispense such abject animosity toward people you've never met. Hmmmm. Curiouser and curiouser. An enigma, you.

These Trump voters have already proved that they are beyond the point where we can reason with. Clinton offered them job retraining and clean energy jobs. Trump offered them nothing but a chance to see people of color suffer, and they chose Trump. Voting Trump is an act of racism in and of itself, because it shows that the voter was ok with Trump's hate and bigotry. I don't want these dumb, xenophobic rednecks on my side. Most of them will be dead from their unhealthy lifestyles and lack of healthcare before the next election anyways.

Those who show their hate and xenophobia are not my fellow citizens. They are my enemy.

Honestly?

You heard it here first.

Compassion is a virtue, but these Trump voters do not deserve compassion. The left and center-left has been showing them compassion for the past century, giving them funding for their rural hospitals, affordable healthcare, paying for the roads they use, etc. And then these yokels vote for people who want to take all of this away, just so that they can satisfy their hate and xenophobia. I'm tired of compassion for people who don't deserve it.

I get the frustration, but dude, this is not the place or the manner to express it. :thumbdown

Apparently you're your own enemy, then.

Once again, I have zero tolerance for INTOLERANCE. I do not tolerate hate, bigotry, or xenophobia. That does not make me intolerant. It makes me a defender of tolerance.

What is the place to express it? After all, this is a political discussion forum online. The only other place I vent like this is on reddit, which is also an online forum.

As for the manner I express my frustration, I am extremely angry at the extreme orange lunatic who was voted into office, and the danger he is posing to society and global peace. And I am also just as angry at the people saying we need to "reach out" to the bigots who got him elected. Hell no. We need to fire up the progressive base and give them a candidate they are excited for. There are more progressives than conservatives, and if all of us vote, the GOP is dead. We don't need to reach out to racists.

Or people who think labels are an indicator of intelligence or education?

They sure as **** can be. Can't be a socialist and not be a complete moron. Not possible.

You keep telling yourself that.

Especially when using such epithets as "Hillbilly Joe Bob," "rural hicks" who are "ignorant and stupid," and wishing harm upon their children.

That said, I've already made plain where I think you're really coming from.

Because I sure as HELL don't.

It is well known that a lot of right wingers in the USA vote against their best interests.

They vote against Obamacare, despite a lot of them being dependant on the ACA to survive. When asked about this, most of them don't even know that Obamacare and the Affordable Care Act are the same thing.

They vote against government subsidies for rural hospitals, roads, railroads, airports, etc. despite them being the only ones who benefit from those subsidies

They vote to cut EPA funding to clean up their towns and states, and keep their water drinkable and their air breathable.

Hillary Clinton offered rural coal mining communities job retraining and wind power careers. Instead, they voted for Trump who doesn't have any coherent plan to help them, except to cut funding for services that they depend on.

In essence, Hillbilly Joe Bob in West Virginia voted in 2016 to lower taxes on the "coastal elites" he hates so much and to cut funding to programs he probably depends on to survive.

These rural hicks are misguided by Fox News and the idea that they are somehow "temporarily embarrassed millionaires," who will get rich one day due to the "American Dream."

And to be honest, I'm goddamn tired of feeling sorry for them.

They are ignorant and stupid, and can't be bothered to change their views. When confronted with the truth, they sink back into the comfortable world of fake news.

And they vote out for PURE RACISM AND HATE. They don't mind Trump's blatant xenophobia. They don't mind the fact that people of color will be hurt by Trump's policies. They refuse to give a single damn about people with different skin color or sexual orientation than them when voting. They even cheer the deportation of millions of innocent, hardworking immigrants, due to the utterly fake idea that "them brown peoples done stole muh jobs!"

Screw these hicks. I hope they SUFFER because of who they voted for. I hope that their water becomes undrinkable and they choke on their coal dust filled air. I hope that Trump's budget cuts to their hospitals and schools results in their illiterate children dying of easily preventable diseases like the flu. I hope that if the ACA gets repealed, Farmer Billy Bob suddenly realizes that he depends on it for his heart medicine. I hope that the stupidity, misguided selfishness, and racism and xenophobia of their vote comes back to bite them in the butt... HARD.

Because after all, that's what they voted for.

Actually, you had two very horrible choices. Trump sure didn't exhibits the values of the old fashioned Republican and Clinton was more a representative of Goldman Sachs and Wall Street than the Democratic Party. Voting for either one was insane as neither represented what their party stood for. At least rhetoric wise.

So we have what we have. I feel sorry for the country as Trump won, I feel sorry for the Democratic party because they nominated someone totally the opposite of what that party has stood for and in the hip pockets of Wall Street.

I might if it didn't harm the rest of us in the process

It would seem from all of that vitriolic projecting, that you are just massively embarrassed that your party lost a presidential election that you thought was in the bag.

I wish harm upon them because THEY VOTED TO BRING HARM UPON THEMSELVES through their vote for Trump, who PLAINLY SAID that he would be cutting federal funding for the programs they depend on. They and their children deserve to be mocked, insulted, and to suffer, especially give the harm they have caused to innocent people of color and immigrants.

All you have shown here, is how intolerant you are.

Best way I can put this is: You're new. You have to get used to a new place.

Holy moly. That is a blatant strawman if I've ever seen one.

My parents voted for Donald Trump. Does that mean I deserve to be mocked, insulted, and to suffer?
