Kinda both. It's pretty much what we all do here, including you... and me.

And no, it wasn't a 'jab'.

Nice save. ;)

I think the answer is the medium. Here, we get to read responses at our own pace and respond to them as we see fit. We can respond quickly or take our time.

In real live shouting matches on TV, we're spectators, and the actors are going back-and-forth quickly. There's also the element of not just watching them but listening to them. That totality of engagement is why I prefer to get my news online: When I see something that infuriates me, I can pause, vent for a bit, and then come back to it if I feel like it.

I feel like people would just yell at each other in these, make the same arguments that have been just challenged, and pay no attention to finding a solution to what has been challenged. I see it in the forums here too often.

I imagine five people sitting at a table talking over each other repeating themselves for a whole hour.

It is saddening but I would suspect the majority of people get there political news from SNL and The Daily Show.

What's even more shocking is that these viewers think of these programs as legitimate news sources.

sometimes. i prefer the standard news format, though.

I don't watch tv news. I do listen to some political podcasts, though. But I prefer my political discussions in written form where people are forced to take turns and have time to think before they make a case.

Even though he says he's a conservative now.

What are you talking about? When has he ever said that? Please, link me the video.

What he says is that given the recent behavior of the regressive left, defending his liberal principles (like free speech) has now become a conservative position. Not being a progressive does not a conservative make.

Where do you get your news from? Please name specific names instead of just saying mainstream media or credible sources. If you can't do that then please feel free to give the big dodge yet again.

I guess you gave me the big dodge yet again.

CBS, ABC, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Mother Jones, Democracy Now, PBS, AP, Reuters, The Hill, Snopes, Wired, and some others that I frequent in order to get a very rounded reporting of a story or World event like the Middle East and the US, etc etc.

While many of those lean left, Mother Jones and Democracy Now are non starters, nothing but blatant partisanship. I don't even know what a Snopes or Wired is but they are nowhere close to mainstream.

Well, since you don't watch democracy Now, you would have no idea about that would you. Secondly, I don't care where news comes from, as long as it's accurate. The sources I count on are accurate.

They have an extreme liberal bias. Fox News is "accurate" too with an extreme conservative bias. Only proves your mind is so brainwashed that you only read news that is biased and accept it as "accurate".

He said, in that very video, that he left the left and found that his positions are now more accurately portrayed by conservatives. He certainly isn't a Bible-pounding neo-con, but he isn't a teary-eyed liberal either.

What you quoted said exactly that, "defending his liberal principles (like free speech) has now become a conservative position." Leaving the left means he isn't a leftist, he is a classical liberal, no a conservative as you claimed.

Many so-called classical liberal positions are best held on the conservative side. That's why he left the Young Turks, because they no longer portray his values. His values are best defended and supported on the right.

Bah. I don't care what he calls it; he's simply correct.
