If Russia wasn't backing Assad so much the question would be harder. We will not invade a country with backing from a nuclear power like Russia.

I believe Trump will do it.
It looks that American billionaires don’t give up from the oil pipeline (Qatar-->Europe through Syria and Turkey) or simply they (defense contractors, the cia/dod) prolong the war to make a profit from the war itself.
They want to make the same situation like in Iraq where Americans decide everything. it means, if rebels/terrorists are destroyed by Russia, Americans will come instead of rebels and Syria will be the same like Iraq. then they will be able to make a pipeline.

I do not believe he will. The Syria/Russia situation is just stupidly complicated, and Trump doesn't like complication. He will back out, and in order to make better use of an investigation-distracting military strike, he'll hit a country that hasn't ganged up with nuclear-armed adversaries.

It is a matter of whether or not we want to finish ISIS off. If we do, then we will have take out Raqqa and that will involve an invasion of Syria. On the plus side, we wouldn't have to fight the Syrian army. I can't see them having any appetite for fighting the U.S. military. On the negative side, Russia wants to control Syria so we may have to deal with them in some way.
 
The last war is basically over. Our miltary is a business and that means fighting wars.

Bush was the guy who gave the orders to invade Iraq.The USA gained nothing in Iraq but Iran gained a lot when the USA put Iran's Shia brothers in charge of Iraq.

Wake up and smell the coffee.

Bush's war in Iraq led to the creation of ISIS.

Since the Americans don't decide everything in Iraq, your whole argument simply falls apart.

No. Trump will not invade/occupy Syria...but he will likely work with a Middle East coallition to help defeat ISIS and oust Assad.

Nope. If the neighbourhood including Iran, the EU and Russia thinks that Assad is doing fine r2p, why bicker with them. As long as there is no gassing of populations are going on. ...

The US should limit in-country activities to striking IS/AQ via air assets and providing intelligence/weapons/supplies to allied Kurdish forces encircling the IS capital of Raqqa.

I don't think there is a rational reason Trump will begin a war. I think he just can't let the opportunity to do so slip out of his little baby hands.

A plurality, not a majority. But according to that chart, about 3/4 of our oil comes from the Americas.
