How many weekends POTUS NOT in White House?

I'm guessing Trump will vacation

  • Total voters
    18
There are 52 weekends in a year. So 208 weekends in a four-year term.

Out of 208, estimate how many of those Trump will NOT spend in the White House.
What percentage?

Oh, and that's based on the assumption that he's not actually traveling on official POTUS business.

I'm asking only about the percentage of weekends he simply heads to his Florida country club or some other vacation destination.

Keep in mind here that 25% is an entire year's worth of weekends.
50% is two years worth of weekends.

Over the next 4 years how many weekends will Trump vacation outside of Washington DC?

What are you talking about? Trump works 24/7. There is never a time when he is not ready with his old unsecured android phone to tweet about anything he doesn't like on any news network. He never stops watching the news, paying attention to The Apprentice ratings, or inventing conspiracies. Need a ridiculous wiretapping conspiracy just invented out of thin air? You can count on Trump to do it even at 6 AM on a Saturday. Need a former Miss Universe fat shamed? He will do that at 1:00 AM in the morning if needs be. He never stops.

This is Trump's 5th retreat to his Mar-a-Lago resort since his inauguration which has cost federal taxpayers an extra ~$15 million dollars.

It's indecent that as Trump cuts federal food programs to aged seniors and poor kids, he burns through millions of dollars in aviation fuel to golf with his wealthy Mar-a-Lago club members almost every weekend.

if we did not expect to need to incur the costs of protecting tRump, we should not have elected him
this is the price of electing a high maintenance candidate

I didn't vote for Trump, and even if I had, I never entertained the possibility that Trump would leave Washington every weekend to cavort in a Playland for the wealthy.

Can't answer the poll question - not good at guessing things 4 years from now, let alone what I'll feel like eating for dinner later today.

However, at the basis of the question is the real issue/story. As with President Obama taking a $5 million plus vacation when he had 5 weeks left in office, I find it outrageous that the American taxpayer, in several jurisdictions and nationally, is being stuck with the bill for a self-important, arrogant, idiot who runs for an office and then can't stomach actually being in that office/home much of the time. If America didn't have such a long history of political assassinations and political mental crackpots, it wouldn't matter so much - here in Canada, our Prime Minister flits around the world non-stop but the only people who want to kill him are those who detest smarm.

It means little that President Trump made a grand gesture of refusing to accept the "salary" assigned to the Presidency when he's costing the taxpayers perhaps a thousand times that in needless extra expenses related to his residential whims and security. This question doesn't also include the extra costs to the taxpayer of Melania Trump and Barron continuing to live in NYC while Trump is President so Barron can finish school and more likely because Melania doesn't want to "slum it" in the White House.

Perhaps while President Trump is slashing the budgets of several departments - nothing wrong with that - he might want to take a knife to the budgets for the White House, the Presidency, and the Secret Service as well. After all, leadership begins at the top.

Ronald Reagan once said, "Presidents don't get vacations. All they get is change of scenery." So what if Trump gives himself a change of scenery every weekend? He's president 24/7.

@BarackObama played golf yesterday. Now he heads to a 10 day vacation in Martha's Vineyard. Nice work ethic.

Trump: Obama 'Takes More Vacations Than Any Human Being I've Ever Seen' - Fox Nation

GRETA VAN SUSTEREN, FOX NEWS HOST: I wanted to talk to you about the recent news about Pakistan and China. But first I want to ask you about your tweet. I can't resist. A recent tweet from you, on your Twitter account, says, Barack Obama played golf yesterday, now he heads to a 10-day vacation in Martha's Vineyard, nice work ethic.

DONALD TRUMP: Well, the fact is, he takes more vacations than any human being I've ever seen. They used to complain about George Bush, but I understand he's already exceeded George Bush and we're not even through the year. So he likes vacation.

VAN SUSTEREN: What does -- I mean, obviously, that doesn't sound a -- send a good message if, indeed, the American people think that he likes a, quote, "vacation."

TRUMP: Well, I mean, it sends a bad message. Here we have a country that really is going to hell in a handbasket. Let's not kid ourselves. What's happening to this country is horrible. All over the world, they're talking about it. And we have a president that's constantly -- whether it's Martha's Vineyard or someplace else, constantly on vacation. I mean, all the time he's on vacation! So I think it sends a very, very bad message. We have to work in this country to bring it back.

Some of you here would grab a pile a dog crap and stuff it into your pocket if Trump told you it was actually gold concealed to "look like" dog crap.

The hypocrisy is amazing.

I don't mind that he takes the weekends off...not at all.
I genuinely think he is so emotionally disturbed and/or suffering from early symptom Alzheimer's that he needs all the time off he can possibly fit in.

What I mind is how much it cost taxpayers PLUS what a hypocrite he is for whining about Obama playing golf so often when Trump is playing it - on a ratio of golf rounds to weeks in office - at a FAR larger rate than Obama did.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...year-than-tiger-woods/?utm_term=.7a21af330701

Trump is clearly quiet full of it on occasions.

He said time and again how the DOW was overpriced, how the unemployment rate was wrong (he has completely flip flopped on these since he took office - which even the White House jokingly admits) and other points that he clearly either did not mean or went hypocrite on when he got into office.

Once again, I have ZERO loyalty to any political party or movement.

Hey, look, Trump lied then too. He claimed Obama surpassed GWB in vacation time when that never happened.

I'm sure we weren't supposed to take that literally, though. /chortle

How many weekends are YOU not working?

Where do people get the idea that the President must work seven day weeks, 24 hour days?

Funny how people think that every hour in office must be spent in the White House or performing some duty outside the White House.

In this modern era of high tech communication, the President is always linked to his staff and the government no matter where he is.

He is not a prisoner of the office he holds.

This is a silly "poll;" another example of "How can we make something unimportant a negative reflection on Trump's Administration."

Now on with the "President So-and-So was much busier and spent (insert time here) doing his job" comparisons. :coffeepap:

Unless, of course, your name is Obama. Then you get dinged for just taking the time to take a healthy crap.

Trump's been POTUS for 8 weeks.

He's been to his personal country club for 5 of those eight available weekends.

So what if Trump gives himself a change of scenery every weekend? He's president 24/7.

So what if Trump made it a BIG friggin deal when Obama both golfed, and/or "vacationed".

Why is it a HUGE problem when Obama did it, but NOT a HUGE problem when Trump does it?

Trump is on track to "vacation" far more than any president ever, but according to Trump himself, that's "sending very bad message."

I totally agree. But, wouldn't you rather actually solve problems than simply implement revenge? Maybe not.

Solve problems or revenge???? What?

I've got nothing to do with this.

Trump is a hypocritical douche.

Fiscal conservatives are nowhere to be found.

Kicking back excessively while cutting programs that hurt millions of Americans, including his own people. All while at the center of the party of "responsible spending." Despicable, but unsurprising.

Trump has never done vacations and never will. As for how many weekends he will work from one of his homes that all depends on if Malania and Barron move to DC, and if they do how much they like it, so the question is impossible to answer right now.

I'd say it seems strange that most posters didn't get your point until a recent post or two before this one, but then I'd be lying. You're expecting a Trump supporter to admit to blatant, unabashed hypocrisy, and they haven't got the ethics to do that.

I've always fought the idea that a President truly gets down time. I fought it when the argument was against Bush going to Crawford. Like he can actually put on his out of office attendant and check out. I fought it when the argument was that Obama played too much golf and took his families on vacation, for the reason I just mentioned plus the fact I'm not an idiotic partisan hypocrite. Trump was vocal for years about Obama's work ethic. The Trump supporters had a big collective aneurysm about Obama. Yet here they are, explaining this away like it's just no big deal.

Did you seriously expect anything less from partisan hypocrites?

Since Jan 21 I've had 2 weekends off, the last day I had off was mid February.

Captain Adverse's post should have come from Captain Absurd.

It's just amazing to see how blind some people are when it comes to reality.

I'd tell you, but I can't exactly see into the future at the moment. I accidentally left my crystal ball in my other pants.

Well, it would be a pretty lopsided poll if we knew the answer. ;)
