Anyone have any thoughts on whatever became of the infamous 'alt-right' movement that was ever so present during the 2016 election race? Where have they gone?

Personally, I believe that many left the movement, and many others simply became quieter and more content with Trump's presidency. Those of whom remain are usually just clumped together as average Trump supporters and used as extremists.

It's going the way of, "The Russians did it"

Just some more made-up Leftist BS.

Also true. After the election, the leftists started blaming whatever they could, and in the meantime, forgot about their scapegoat during the 2016 election, which was the alt-right. I'm just happy that it's over and soon people can go back to discussing politics intelligently, without having to deal with the absurd claims of 'Nazi' and all the other terms that were used so much that they lost meaning.

The "Alt Right" as boogeyman is a fabrication by the tard left. Leftists have one play in their playbook. Their play has nothing to do with improving national security, jobs, improving the country, etc. Their one play...shriek "racism/sexism____ism!!!" at the top of their lungs and appeal to their mindless sheep followers.

I consider the expression 'alt right' to be a vapid and useless affectation uttered by those broken-hearted by Hillary Clinton's humiliating loss last November.

It's a flash-in-the-pan insult.
Here yesterday, gone today.

Adios, pejorative nonsense du jour.
:)

It's been cancelled out by the "alt-left".

Personally I believe that the "alt right" was more democratic hype than anything else. When the left chooses a minuscule demographic and exaggerates it numbers for political purposes it's no surprise that they become hard to find after the Democrats crash and burn.

The Alt-right never seemed like a "big" movement to begin with. Aside from a few extreme cases that garnered a bunch of attention, they haven't really shown up much at all.

The domain is back up. Richard Spencer runs it. Look him up.

It was an okay Byrds song.
I never saw it as very political, especially for the 60's.
Maybe a little presumptuous then but very perspicacious nonetheless ...

...
I don't care what they may say
I don't care what they may do
I don't care what they may say
Jesus is just altright, oh yeah
Jesus is just altright

True, although, I think it was mostly overreaction to Hillary's policies and the race-baiting Democrats themselves. I mean, I've seen some people who would actually classify themselves as such, but after the election, they pretty much just became quieter and less extreme. I think that the left called any reaction to them and their bull**** ideas as 'alt-right' if they didn't like it, or if they just flat out opposed it.

I guess that I'm not exactly able to be objective about this topic.

I was listening to NPR radio one day a few months ago, and there was an segment on featuring Terry Gross interviewing some news bimbo, and they were discussing the gal's dismal book sales.

Apparently, the "alt-right" had logged onto the NYT book reviewing website (or so it was alleged) immediately after the book was released, and all of these Trump-loving, racist, misogynistic 'alt-righters' had dropped scathing reviews, all in order to sabotage the lady's NYT Best Seller ratings.

Anyway.
The nasally-tones, the haughty dismissals, and the arrogance of the radio bit just left a bit of an attitude in me, regarding those who use that expression.

The Alternative Right is a term coined in 2008 by Richard Bertrand Spencer, who heads the white nationalist think tank known as the National Policy Institute, to describe a loose set of far-right ideals centered on “white identity” and the preservation of “Western civilization.” In 2010, Spencer, who had done stints as an editor of The American Conservative and Taki’s Magazine, launched the Alternative Right blog, where he worked to refine the movement’s ideological tenets. https://www.splcenter.org/fighting-hate/extremist-files/ideology/alternative-right

It's coined by Spencer, who's a racist, but it's branched out to many other groups that want nothing to do with hardcore racists and instead are for the most part against the Establishment, both right and left. Here's Breitbart's take, and the reason I give their take is they're usually considered the bastion of Alt-Right by many lefties, even though the writers of the article say they don't identify with the Alt-Right. The alt-right is not and has never been a significant force or influence in America in politics or anything else. It was mentioned frequently during the campaign because it was among the assigned talking points that Hillary supporters were supposed to use to attack Trump, IMO it is still used in the full frontal assault on the Trump Presidency by those who would rather see America destroyed than see Trump succeed in anything.

All you need to do is visit:

Breitbart News Network

Right there's your "alt right".

I don't really care what Breitbart says, since I don't take them as a serious news source. I was just commenting on the origins of the term is all.

Those interested had to go alternative because they were not like, and against, the normal political right.

Also don't forget the left is now the party of 'no' and obstructionism and lefts display of violence is not helping their cause and hope in 2018.

They didn't go anywhere. The novelty of their existence is over is all. The emergence of a highly bigoted and xenophobic mindset is complete and we've come to accept that this is the new reality we have to contend with.

You make want to visit Moveon.org or the Daily Kos for Alt-left view points. See how that works?

Steve Bannon was one the who said Breitbart was the "platform" for the "Alt-Right"...

I mean I know Bannon is a scumbag, but your president obviously thinks very highly of him, no?

Pretty much. Trump's minions on this forum though will continue to proclaim the "Alt-Right" was invented by liberals, even though Steve freakin' Bannon himself has even acknowledged that Breitbart was a platform for the "Alt-Right".

That's because the vast majority of Trump supporters here at DP have reached the point of simply handwaving away facts that inconvenience their idiotic worldview.

Their hatred of liberals far outweighs any rational thought. Trump could do whatever he wants...and as long as liberals don't like him or what he's doing...they'll be happy.
