Should ALL elected politicians be legally required to publish their tax returns?

Didn't some cabinet nominations of the Obama administration get rejected or withdraw for not paying their taxes. I wonder if they submitted their tax returns before they were vetted. I don't remember an outrage by liberals at the time...their excuse....those nomination made an honest mistake. Now that the table has turned its seems to be constitutional crisis.

I see this thread as nothing more than a hit piece by Trump haters.

Of course a trump/Bannon poster would think this thread is a 'hit piece by trump haters', your words.

I didn't know Presidents were the same as Cabinet members, if your statements are true.

And yes, we all get your code language of liberals for Democrats.

Though not even close to CPAC trying to call alt-rightists 'left-wing fascists', the latest 'Big Lie' of the year.

I'm sure you'll support trump if he fights a subpoena of his tax returns. What is trump hiding ?

Obviously you are in mourning over Hillary lost....get over it.

I do believe the title of this thread is 'should all elected politicians......'Obama took three tries to find a secretary of commerce. New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson withdrew his name after the word surfaced that a grand jury was investigating allegations of wrongdoing in the awarding of contracts in his state. Republican Sen. Judd Gregg of New Hampshire backed out citing "irresolvable differences" with the policies of the Democratic president.

Obama's first choice to lead the Department of Health and Human Services, former Senate Democratic leader Tom Daschle, withdrew his nomination when it came out that he owed $140,000 in back income taxes and interest. So you can see it was true.

And yes, we all get your code language of liberals for Democrats.

Maybe I should have said progressive.

I believe the term 'fascist' was used on signs during progressive/liberal/democratic hate Trump marches.

Good luck with that and good look finding a judge to order that subpoena. Privacy laws and such things you know

I'm not saying it is a requirement, I'm saying it should be.

Much like how you lose some rights when you sign up for military service, I would be happy to force people seeking public office to fully disclose all financials and tax returns.

They serve the public and it's for the public good.

Then you need to talk to your Congress critters.

Should ALL elected politicians be legally required to publish their tax returns?

Nevermind what the law may or may not be now. The key word is "should".

This is prompted by President Trump, of course, but let's take it from him all the way down to city council. President, Vice-President, Congress, state governors, state legislators, mayors, city council, and so on.

Only for the year(s) in elected office. Not prior to or after.

No absolutely not, that's private info. Now with that being said, finances are already gone through for many reason when you do certain things in your life.

I dont know at what level it becomes a standard but my finances were gone through to obtain a security clearance. SO I cant imagine that high level politicians dont have the same happen for them.

This is why birthers are extra retarded, the idea that somebody could make it that far is beyond stupid. I'm nobody when it comes to politics I just have a job that I could see certain things and they went though my life with a comb.

Anyway my answer is no "publicly" but if only high level politicians are screen I totally support making it lower politicians too. MINIMUM state politicians and up should go through at least the same screening I went though and more.

then even city, county and district politicians WHEN that particular area is very large economically.

going to counter everything Bannon said today.

I didn't know Bannon was the subject of this thread....must have missed the memo.

When you start a post to me with a personal insult, look at what you get .

Another missed memo...my bad

Yes.

The only thing I'm conflicted on is city/municipal. It probably doesn't make too much sense for smaller towns, but important metropolises/megacities like New York? Definitely.
