So? I've said it before, I don't care if a president reads from a teleprompter. In fact, I prefer they do. I think it's a waste of time memorizing a political speech when they have infinitely more important things to focus on. Memorizing a speech is freaking high school English homework. Not something the leader of the free world should be expected to do.
Using a teleprompter doesn't bother me, as long as they don't come off as a complete moron when they don't have one. I still want them to be articulate and be able to convey their thoughts in an impromptu setting.

There were times that Bush II made me cringe. I'd think, "Dude, just shut up."

I can agree with that.

Well, he at least has to have the ability to understand real from fake news. Just like yesterday when he made up a terror attack in Sweden.

“You look at what’s happening in Germany, you look at what’s happening last night in Sweden,” Trump told a large crowd of supporters in a hangar at the Orlando-Melbourne International Airport. “Sweden. Who would believe this? Sweden,” he added. “They took in large numbers. They’re having problems like they never thought possible.”

Nothing happened in Sweden last night, the Aftonbladet's most important news was voice problems of 87-jarige singer Ove Thörnquist and news of that importance. AKA nothing terrorist/immigrant/whatever happened in Sweden.

Our President - absolutely !
A floor sweep - much less so .
A vehicle mechanic - a bit less absolutely .

I think it's important that they be well read enough to have a general grasp of the issues at hand surrounding their office, a general understanding of our society, and some vision of where they want to take the country during their administration. That does not, however, mean that they need to perpetually have their nose buried in whatever latest fad-piece Oprah, Rachael Maddow, or Bill Maher may have suggested for their respective book clubs.

I really don't view Trump as being less than adequate in either regard.

I am pretty sure Bill Maher does not have a book club.

Embarrassing himself and the republic while insulting friends/allies is conducting diplomacy?

Lol wut?

Obama's administration improved our standing around the world and cleaned up some of Bush's mess.

What a stupid comment.

Playing golf is embarrassing the country? Try to keep up. :doh

Uhuh, I want my vehicle mechanic to be well read when it comes to instruction manuals, if you don't mind

I've read that Trump spends his evenings watching TV. I think reading about history would serve him well.
Watching what ?
There is so much utter crap on TV and so many advertisements ..I am just a bit better .. TCM .. Every once in a while , maybe once a year there are some good programs that trump should watch ,, I suspect that he watches children's programs and worse yet , WWE .

I see , what I wrote can so easily be misunderstood ..
I'll assign numbers
POTUS 99.999% well read
Vehicle mechanic 99.9%
floor sweep 90%
I am too ''lazy'' to be well read , 30 plus years ago, I recall reading Victors Hugo's ''The Man who Laughs" over a 7 day vacation .

I think it's important for every person to be well read

I think people who don't have big money need to be well read. The rich have a completely different perspective. I worked for a man who had a couple hundred million of self made monies, and he was sending a worthless kid to Wharton. I asked, "Why you wasting tens of thousands of dollars sending the lad to that expensive school, because he's going to flunk out in one or two semesters?" And he did. The boss/father replied, "It's not about education, but some will stick, it's about meeting and knowing the business partners for the rest of his life, and they are all rich people with connections." Only the rich are there and at other Ivy League schools and these people run our Nation. It's not about brains or hard work. Sorry, but that is reality.

You never knew America was great and why?

Asking questions based on questions that I asked...no buenos. But apparently you believe America stopped being great at some point in time. When did you first perceive that happening? Why?
