I don't want to argue the stimulus on this thread, but since you brought it up - Things were screwed up in a major-league, big-time --- a show-stopper, when Obama took office. Do you recall this? Can you state the facts? Something had to be done. At one point in his 8 years, Obama started running a budget surplus. The last time that happened was under Clinton/Gore.

I suggest you start examining the proposed spending of Donald Trump. This wall, not Pink Floyd's. Huge military spending increases. Corporate America is in a mode of "do more with less". Why can't Trump take this approach with the military? I would expect more from a corporate man.
These are some things we want done.

It is why we across the nation, voted him in. We want that wall. We DO NOT want an emasculated military since we all know, deep in our souls, that a strong military keeps those that would otherwise try to prey upon us from doing so. At least those who might do so logically. Called deterrence and, if you study history, you are probably causually familiar with the fact that peace costs a lot less than war. In addition to myriad ways besides in dollar value. The wall, for one, is to keep out those who we cannot logically deter, that are just too ideologically driven. And then another, the other, pull factor over our borders, the dream of America, or on the bright side, at least an opportunity to work, send home money to your needy family south of the border. On the dark side, to human traffick, to transport cartel business, crimes across our border and into the heartlands of the good ol US of A.

I think he sent a message to corporate America, I am here to help, sure. Lower corporate tax, which incidentally is always paid by us the consumer instead, incentives to manufacture/create and sell their products in country, a more pragmatic, reasonable and not chicken**** little the sky is falling the sky is falling approach to regulation. But, as with the message he sent to Boeing, maybe not just the big corporate giveaways, that the bills will now be scruntinzed with a magnifying glass.

And if not up to snuff, we the Trump admin, might just tweet you our displeasure.

Yes, indeed I remember. BO was a part of stopping the show. He and his fellow legislators opened the barn doors. Its why we need fewer lobbyists, why we need smaller government.

Up with drain the swamp. That means up with DJT. We sure didn't get that with 8 years of the O bomb, were specifically not gonna get it with Madamn President Hillary.

Maybe you could get a job at FOX News. You got the rhetoric down pat. The anger - the hate - the partisan attitude, etc.

Perhaps.

Or just your regular American voter fed up with the elites on both sides that kept telling us what all they were doing for us but when you looked at the results it turned out all it was was a big hole. Vast stretches of debt for as far as the eye could see, diminution of our morals and culture, doors thrown wide open to all threats... then being called a bigot if you raised even a peep about any of it.

How about you? Since all the paid to disrupt operatives jobs in the now, although always, defunct Clinton campaign have gone the way of the Brontosaurus... or in her specific case, the T ex-next Rex? The extinction of the Democrat party and the other than FOX network and cable news are on the slower, but still accelerated, path to Dodoism... but an assured path if they don't adapt to the new, post nuclear option/subatomic O bomb environment.

Maybe a comet will hit earth and knock us all out though, eh? As Al "I don't practice what I preach" Gore's 10 year tipping point just went past its 2016 stale sell- by= date last year, maybe its something to hope for?

Still, kind of counter productive don't ya think? Like throwing out the baby with the bath water, these mass extinctions just to do the planet a favor by ridding the earth of humans.

Guess I have a more optimistic view of the human race, and democracy. At one time, this was intended to be a tongue-in-cheek thread about the Wall.

My memory failed me. I saw the Floyd for the first time in November 1967, supporting Jimi Hendrix. The cinema gig was in March 1968. Now I'll go and have a nice lie down.

it's gonna be YUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE!!

Trumps wall will be shorter lived. It won't be 25% complete before patriots are sabotaging it, and less than 50% before the next executive order knocks it down and declares 100% open borders with Mexico in response.

I'm going to go down there and scale that wall into Mexico. There's no US law against it. The BP agents will ask, "Hey! What you doin there?"

"I'm sneaking into Mexico, amigos!" And the agents will just laugh and laugh.

I may be an older fart. I saw the Floyd for the first time in our local cinema in 1966.

Wow, must have been either Atom Heart Mother or Umma Gumma. Echoes, which was way before it's time, was a little later. It became the soundtrack for 2001 - A Space Odyssey.

Atom Heart mother was later. I saw the first public performance of that piece at the Bath festival, 1970. I think that you are mistaken about the soundtrack for A Space Odyssey.

I prefer Pink Floyd's wall. Although Trump probably agrees with some of the Pink Floyd philosophy - "We don't need no education"....

Pink Floyd's wall is just a song. Trump's will probably be a fence rather than a wall. I voted, "Trump's".

I have not seen the Hoover Dam but I have seen, being here in Panama, the magnificent American engineering accomplishment of our, formerly our, canal.

And isn't it still amazing, even after the O bomb a years, that in direct opposition of the Berlin Wall to keep people from escaping, that America must build a wall to keep others from getting in because they want to be there, be it illegally? A true monument to America it should be. I think we should build the most wonderful and beautiful wall possible.

Eighth Wonder of the World wonderful. Why not? Hell, if we could waste almost a trillion $$$ with the past stimulus [where did all that go again?], why not build something that lasts and actually does something?

I don't think spent all the stimulus money.

I speak English quite well, but I do not really know what to make of that, sorry.

I think I skipped a word. I don't think all of the stimulus money was spent. It was just authorized.

We would have noticed. $800,000,000,000 divided by 318,900,000 people = $2,508.62 per person in the United States. The second stimulus was $800,000,000,000 too. I'm pretty sure it wasn't all used or we would have noticed by now.

I think it could well have gotten poured down the rat hole we used to proudly call Washington, DC.

Kinda reverse alchemy going on there, lots of our good as gold taxes in... only to be turned into lead.. Lead led astray and into some heavy donor's pockets, lead often made into bullets given to some radical jihadists, ostensibly on "our" side but which we never really are convinced of that, to make mischief.

Trump is about to hit the Wall at 60mph+ and good graciousness help us.

If it comes to fruition, it should be a thing of surpassing magnificence. A thing that at once trumpets (lulz) humanity's finest aspirations and its darkest, most terrible dreams.

I'm thinking 2,000 miles of unadulterated splendour. Titanium base, overlaid with gold, a thousand feet high and five hundred thick. The whole overlaid with precious gems of every description. A central portal of such staggering opulence as to invite ceaseless hymns from innumerable choirs of the heavenly host. Obviously, the construction should reflect mathematical anomaly; that's only fitting. Staffed night and day by unhinged zealots adorned in costumes unbearable to behold and that resonate archetypally, wielding weapons the complexity and savagery of which can only be drawn forth directly from the subconscious.

A daily ritual of sequential mutilations all along the battlements, whereby a million gallons of Mexican blood runs freely, mile after mile, through patterned channels scored into the golden surface, to be collected in vats for the consumption of black-robed, deformed priests who chant and giggle girlishly through rotten teeth.

Ultimately, something God won't suffer to endure.

Wouldn't that pwn?

Well maybe Pink Floyd's metaphorical meaning behind the song is much like what Trump is doing to the US.
