Taking away and reinstating rules really negates the common usage of the word.
Reid should have listened to you. When he did that my first thought was "he's going to regret it"
I had a deeply unsettled feeling. But here we are. The Democrats were fools for stripping away those parts of the filibuster, but they weren't complete fools because, after all, they still left the ability to block legislation and SCOTUS picks intact. The question is: will the Republicans be those complete fools?
Why can I not?
We are going to filibuster until the cows come home.
Suck puppy.
Good luck. Ain't gonna happen except for SCOTUS and then there will be sellouts on the Dem side to help out.
We need to keep eight justices on the supreme court. I love it when they tie.
Canada. My profile has that I served in our Military as well.Which country are you from?....I want to make a few comments.
Let me be more clear. I am referring to the appointment of another justice. Trump may get the opportunity to appoint up to four more justices total. That would be freakin awesome. Can you imagine eight conservative justices? He is going to name his first nominee next week. :2dancing:
He should choose Garland Merrick first. Then he can make his picks. If he doesn't, he'll find out about obstruction.
No reason to chose Merrick. Obama isn't in the White House anymore. Trump will meet obstruction anyway. I am hoping he nominates Judge Neil M. Gorsuch. The Democrats will oppose it. They have every right to oppose it.
Democrats have every right to oppose any Supreme court appointee but they don't have a right to block it, if the nomination is valid and qualified. I believe all Trump's nominates were approved by the Senate before and now sit on varies Circuit court seats.
