Do you own a *****hat? Does your *****hat make you feel empowered? Did you march this weekend?

Re: Do you own a *****hat?

No. I imagine the claws would dig in too much.

So they marched against Trump this weekend, for women's rights. But it seemed unclear what right(s) they think they lost. None of my females friends supported the march or thought it made sense. They were all wearing this pink hat.

Personally, I think they did themselves an injustice by wearing them.

Seriously. Someone was making a fortune and having giggling fits while they made them.

Re: Do you own a *****hat?

Every movement needs iconic imagery and sloganry to coalesce around.

This hat is a bit dubious, IMO.

However - if their point is to stick-it to Trump, it is effective in that it's a reminder of the man's narcissistic gutter entitlement values displayed in that iconic video.

I disagree. They appeared to be flailing around all weekend, having Hollywood put their most outlandish on display.

I think the way the march is perceived depends on one's political bias.

true enough-I was having my car serviced this morning and read a few articles in the local paper about the march-apparently there was a litmus test -those marching had to be pro-abortion rights to be there. Interesting

I'm not sure how something like that would have been enforced. It was kind of....voluntary. But this is pretty much to be expected. People are going to look to confirm their bias either way. It's the blind hyper-partisan nature of modern American Politics. It's easier that way, we don't need to think.

One of my sisters did the march in Philly with her husband. She didn't have a hat. Based on the pics she sent most of the people there weren't wearing them, so your statement "they were all wearing this pink hat" is false.

Not any dumber than the tri-corner hats and other nonsensical garb the teabaggers used to wear. I would not want to be caught dead in any of it, but thanks to the 1st amendment, others can.

Well, I think the sheer magnitude of the anti-Trump demonstrations was startling. We saw how flustered Trump's team was in trying in vain to flip-the-scales-back when the demonstration crowd size exceeded that of his inauguration.

But you are right in that they need to find a focused rallying-point and charismatic leadership (Rodger Moore notwithstanding), or they will fade into the same obscurity as the Occupy movement.

Personally, I'd like to see this morph into a Dem T-Party movement, and co-join with the Bernie crowd. They have that possibility, but need leadership. The march was inspired by a nondescript FaceBook post, and without any real leadership developed into a march physically exceeding that of a U.S. Presidential inauguration. Very impressive. And it was purely spontaneous & grass-roots. Even more impressive! It would seem there's tremendous power and potential to be unleashed here, with the right leadership.

that they came out in opposition to tRump in numbers FAR greater than those who came out in support of tRump the previous day, sent a very strong signal to the nation's population ... and hopefully, to the tRump administration, itself

At least youre consistent. *****hat is basically the same thing as calling someone a teabagger. The left cant make serious arguments, so they have to resort to gimmicks and names.

Yep, I agree, and the T-Party imagery came to mind foremost - even though I didnt post it.

If you care to look at my post #13, I expound a bit on the march showing perhaps the potential for a Dem T-Party type movement (which I believe is sorrily needed).

She didn't have true ***** power if she wasn't wearing one.

Right.

It's evident the sentiment and dissatisfaction with both Parties is there in abundance (cf Rodger Moore's speech).

But they need leadership in order to have hope to actualize. In fact, this is exactly the vacuum that Trump saw, seized, and coalesced - all the way to the White House!

Re: Do you own a *****hat?

All the really cool parties need their own special hat.

Yes, making fun of people wearing *****hats is like making fun of people wearing tri-corner hats with tea bags hanging off them. Teabagger is a lot easier to type than "people wearing tri-corner hats with tea bags hanging off them", and it gets the point across.

She didn't have true ***** power if she wasn't wearing one.

SO when you cannot talk issues, you resort to building straw men(no one claims to have lost any rights at this time), and trying to use ridicule. Good to know you are a user of Alinski's rules...

Reminded me kinda of another group...
