Saying someone is sexy and beautiful is not sexist

Sure, no argument there.

That's not what he said.

Maybe read the OP and the quote first, then it might make sense.

To explain how the humor worked: The reason why the tweet was funny was that it unexpectedly pointed out the stereotype that a person who is sexy and beautiful is also dumb as a rock.

1) Martin obviously doesn't think that. Not part of my point, but I wanted to be clear I'm not accusing him of anything.
2) A person would only call his statement "Sexist" is if they believed that the stereotype only applied to women. I mean, sure, he was talking about a woman. But in no way did he say it only applied to women. In fact, the stereotype of "Dumb Jock" is often in reference to a good looking and athletic male.

ergo:

3) To believe that Steve Martin was sexist is to believe in premise two, which I would say is sexist! How dare they only apply stereotypes to females.

This is only sexist if you make some extreme assumptions and forget that humor exists.

Fair enough, I can't argue with that angle.
