Swiiiiiing and a miss!DING DING DING!uh why was it Trump making the decision-last time I checked, Obama is still president
Folks keep acting like Trump has all of this power.... he isn't President yet.
What did our CURRENT President do for this situation... that is what I am more interested in at the moment.
Reaction can be gauged without a decision being made. It would be a pre-emptive testing of the Trump waters. Chances are that China wasn't seeking an actual confrontation, just checking to see how the next President will react so they have a better idea how to act once he is inaugurated.
Obama is already yesterday's news, and as such it wasn't about him or anything serious or real anyway, as evidenced by China giving up so quickly. Once Trump is in office, watch for China to be more overt and aggressive, even more than with Obama, and especially where their territorial claims in the South China Sea are concerned, and you'll be able to trace it back to this test.
Nice try, though.
