One thing is certain: Anyone who answered "No" will have to change their answer before this thread is done. ;)

Unless someone is a lurker as I am in more heated areas -- like most of YouTube comments.

Can't speak to Seattle or Portland, but I can certainly speak of Los Angeles.

Put a Trump sticker on your car? That's an invitation to damage and even road intimidation.

If you're a college student, as both my children learned, don't think about discussing Republican approaches to issues. Not in public, and certainly not in the class room. In fact, for both, it was just tolerate the never ending propaganda, graduate, and move on.

Care to make a statement in some kind of public venue about immigration? That would be an extremely dangerous proposition.

Do you imagine there aren't other parts of this country where the opposite isn't true? Other places where expressing liberal opinions can't get a violent reaction?

Neither is okay, but neither are they really the majority reaction.

Having travelled around the country on a regular basis, it has not been my experience the same level of threat has prevailed if someone should express liberal opinions.

Perhaps you could show some evidence that is the case.

When it comes to California, and specifically Southern California, attacking non-liberal expression is most certainly the majority reaction. It is an invitation to damage or otherwise go after someone simply for displaying a Trump bumper sticker.

Prove it. Prove its the majority reaction, that no one would dare have a trump bumper sticker in LA.

Prove it? How lame can a post be. JHC.

Prove it isn't true.

This prove it game is so pathetic it's a real turn off about DP.

You think I'm wrong, prove to me it's not true.

Resorting to the illogical "prove it's not true" when called to provide evidence for an assertion you made.

I guess this is the question for people with a very wide spectra of views. This is mostly about online experience, but offline experience is welcome.

I was once flamed on twitter and then added to a enemies list of 'white racists' for criticizing obama. I think thats a badge of honor though.

It's not illogical. What's pathetic is the prove it dance so many try to get people to move to on DP.

I've made an observation based on experience living here. You demand I prove my observation true.

WTH am I supposed to do with that?

You don't agree, fine, don't. I'll stick with my experience.

Yes -- at most flamed/insulted .

Had a few threats over the web but I do not want to count that. Was a long time ago and I dealt with it at the time. But sure you get insulted and threatened when you have views that are not mainstream. The high number of people are incapable of verbal argument to make their point and reside to threats/violence when they feel that the life as they know it is under threat and they do not have the capacity to counter argue.

Online? Are you seriously asking this? Who was not ...?

Most people online either are total idiots, or they turn into total morons the moment they go online. Myself included.

In real life?

Well there was this Brandenburg (rural area around Berlin) hillbilly I met in the train. He made a few disrespectful remarks, and then we had a disagreement about the political implications of the style of his haircut. He kind of confirmed my view with his actions, but fortunately, nobody got seriously hurt.
