Thanksgiving in the USofA is this Thursday. November 24th. (Hard to believe it's right here)

I'm suggesting a day of Truce at DP.

Just one day.

Can we just give Thanks one day and NOT act like blubbering idiots with an axe to grind against one another?
If you post something make it positive. Don't be a vindictive, condescending, sarcastic, pedantic jerk.


Anybody want to try it? Or should we wait for Christmas to try such a thing?

As a Canadian, it's my recollection that traffic here on DP from US posters is very light on Thanksgiving Thursday, so should be an easy challenge to take and meet.

That's the Coke jingle, isn't it. Here in Canada, we get polar bears drinking Coke for Christmas :roll:

We get the same commercials. I like em. Polar Bears are still vicious killers that should one should be prepared to shoot on short notice, even if they are cute. :gunsmilie

We can change the holiday name to Trumpsgiving too. :2razz:

There was a YouTube video that was making the rounds about a guy up north with dogs and it showed one of the dogs playing with a polar bear - got a lot of views and aaawwws - then, news comes that one of the polar bears ate at least one of the dogs - so much for cute!!

I will comply with a day of truce.
But I don't think that it will help. Things are getting increasingly tense.
I will make it a seasonal truce-Thanksgiving through Christmas.
 
We could use Thanksgiving day as a test run, then have a Truce Week the week from Christmas Eve through New Years Day.

I honestly don't think most people here can do a whole month of truce.

When up in Alaska I go armed for bear literally, I want to drop em in one shot if necessary. Being eaten is not on my bucket list.

I am now an uncle, which means I'm obliged to be the guy who ruins Thanksgiving by getting way too drunk and screaming about politics. It's very important to uphold cliches.

I can see how it would be a good idea to just not log onto DP on a day like Thanksgiving, but why come on the website at all if not to Debate Politics?

Thanksgiving, Christmas, and other holidays that encourage human interaction and getting together with family only serve to provide forums where these sorts of issues can be exacerbated, not overlooked or briefly discarded.

Eh. The board honestly seems kind of tame since I've gotten back, tbh. The more hardcore Lefties seem to have had their confidence checked quite a bit.

A lot of them aren't even posting right now.
