Now that Trump is president elect, do you wish that Romney would have won in 2012?

Do you wish Romney would have won in 2012?

I was thinking about this the other day. Had Romney won in 2012, there would be no Trump presidency today. So the question is, if you are an Obama supporter, do you wish that Romney would have won in 2012 even though it would have meant that Obama would have been a one-term president because you still would rather have Romney than Trump?

Conversely, if you are a Trump supporter, do you wish that Romney would have won in 2012 because it would have deprived Obama of a second term even though it also would mean no president Trump?

No, Romney was a despicable scumbag and everything that came out of his mouth showed he was an elitist plutocrat who hates huge swaths of the American people.

When someone talks about wishing, I remember the old-time addage: Wish in one hand and defecate in the other then see which hand fills up first.

Well, Romney will be Secretary of State, so not a total loss.

You spelled Trump wrong

What if's and wishes. The thing is we will never know how good or bad a president Romney would have been because it never happened. We do not know at this point in time how good or bad a president Trump will be because he hasn't become president yet. As for Obama, I rate him as a below average president. Just above Carter and Ford, but below Nixon when it comes to president's I have personally experienced.

Wishes, in 2012 I had lost faith in Obama and didn't trust Romney, so I voted for Johnson and that would be my wish for 2012. A Gary Johnson presidency. This year my wish was the same. I always thought Clinton and Trump were the most horrible presidential nominees ever put forth by the two major parties. Heck, you could include all third parties and independent runs also. I would have loved seeing Johnson entering his second term instead of Trump or if Clinton won, her.

Being that I didn't vote for either, either time, I can want what I think is better for this country, but in the grand scheme of things, I don't think there will be as much *gasp* change as some of the Democrats/Progressives think there will be, nor as much as the Republican/Trumpers would want.

Virtually everything Trump has declared he will do, is not going to happen overnight. Most of it will take a great deal, if not all, of his first term to just get it started. Just as Obama promised 'Hope and Change', not much was delivered, and what was delivered will likely be altered so drastically that it will no longer resemble Obama's "Landmark" legislation.

We had swung too far to the left over the past few presidencies. This is a small swing back to the right. The world is not ending.

Re: Now that Trump is president elect, do you wish that Romney would have won in 2012

I think we needed two terms of Obama to let the nation know just how really bad things can get when a liberal, race baiting, Christian hating Moslem holds all the cards.
When he does not get his way, he resorts to legislation by EO.
When our country is attacked several times by radical Islamists, he calls for disarming Americans.
When radical Islamists are condemned, he brings up the Crusades, that happened about a thousand years ago. never once condemning them or even being able to utter the words, Radical Islamic Terrorism.

We needed to see all of this to KNOW without a doubt, his way was not the way to go.

I would not mind a Moslem president at all, as long as he upholds American constitutional values above all else.
After all, it is Moslems who are now carrying the brunt of the fighting and dying to defeat their radical cousins.
The Moslems I have met and know in the world on a social basis are very good and honorable people.
They are also excellent fighters. We have a common enemy.

Obama, on the other hand, was not the guy for the job.
He hated America and wanted to diminish her as much as he could, whenever he could.
He even said so in his book.

Doesn't really apply to me because I felt Romney would have been the better choice at the time, but it is an interesting question.

Despite my previous post, SouthernDemocrat, I would like to thank you for this most excellent poll and question.
It is very insightful and I hope causes a lot of introspection.
Good job!!!

My whole family for generations have been conservative Democrats, until the Democratic party said they do not want us in their party any more.
Have you seen this same issue?
I ask because of your screen name.

I tend to vote for moderate Republicans in state and local races and for Democrats in national elections.

Sounds like Trump with less gold.

Oh sweet. It's nice to know you voted for Trump this year.

Donald Trump Is A Moderate Republican

His running mate is a total nutjob, he has yet to appoint any moderates to his cabinet, and we will have to see how he actually governs before we know whether or not he is a "moderate".
