Which you guys had to cheat to win. Changing the rules during the game isn't usually allowed. Please explain how "we" cheated
Do you favor free choice in abortion? I do I'm against overturning RvW but I am also against abortion as a means of birth control. I favor stronger birth control and education measures to decrease the number of abortions to the smallest number possible.
Do you favor mitigating global warming? I do I favor doing what we can, within reason, and without adding to the deficit and without over-regulating business to the point of losing jobs while looking at the science that says global temperatures historically change even without human involvement.
Do you favor gun control measures? I do Gun control is a crock. The left assumes that passing gun control legislation will keep guns out of the hands of criminals. It won't. It keeps the guns out of law abiding citizen's hands. There are a growing number of smash and grabs around the country where criminals are stealing guns from gun stores in large quantities. Gun control legislation does not stop that. It is not law abiding citizens stealing guns. What we need to do is keep people locked up who use guns and not let them out or back out. Who cares if we have the largest population of those incarcerated in the world? The answer to that is not letting criminals loose but societal change so that we have less criminals in the first place. By the way, for the record, I hate guns, don't own any, and never used one. Don't even hunt.
Do you favor universal health care? I do Depends on what form it is. I'm not totally against the idea but I would not want a national healthcare system like most countries have and I would not want to add more to the deficit to do it. National healthcare in other countries is horrible.
Do you support gay marriage? I do I'm not in favor of overturning what has already been done. I personally do not like having gay marriage but the bottom line is now we have it and I don't really give a crap if gay people are married or not. Not worth the fight of overturning it. We need to move on with more important issues.
Gay rights over religious rights? I do I don't think that the far right's values should be crammed up the left's asses but there needs to be an accomodation for religious beliefs. They should not be forced to accept something that is against their fundamental beliefs. A middle ground can be found if both sides are willing to compromise.
Rational science over irrational religious dogma? I do In case you forgot, this is America and we have rights, everyone. That is one of the fundamental reasons for the beginning of our country - religious freedom. Religion has been around since the beginning of time, thousands of years. We need to be tolerant of other's beliefs, even if we don't agree with them. This is a hypocritical issue of the left but, I must point out, there are many people on the left who have religious beliefs and go to church. It is not a case of everyone on the left is not religious while everyone on the right is.
Republican are against all that. Democrats are for all that.
How can you be an independent if you fall on either side of those questions? Or maybe you just don't care so it doesn't matter?
Those are not extreme positions, they are the issues of the day which people disagree about.
