Do you support those trying to overturn the Electoral Vote count

Do you support those trying overturn the electoral vote count through harassment?

  • Total voters
    113
  • Poll closed .
God no.

I do support people who want to get rid of the EC in the long run though.

However, that would require some constitutional heavy lifting.

Since Trump came to power, I've seen countless posts from the right on how the left are now opposed to differing view points and ideas. It's like living in bizarro world where liberals and progressives aren't open minded and hate critical thinking all of a sudden. Apparently, opposition to a campaign built on racism, xenophobia, and anti-intellectualism is being close minded and dismissive.

There was just a post talking about how the Democratic party supposedly treats poor and middle class Americans with contempt. It's hard to find a more objectively false claim than that.

I fear the worst is yet to come.

I was referring more to their "3 MILLION ILLEGALS VOTED IN CALIFORNIA, BLACKBOXVOTE PROVED THAT" when it did nothing of the sort. But yeah, you're not wrong.

Paranoia is really running rapid these days. Who is "you all"?

"You" refers to whoever is pressuring the electors to vote for hillary instead of trump and overturn the democratic process of electing the president

Or anyone who supports and makes excuses for the liberal rodents calling the electors

What you are recommending is the opposit of democracy

Its rule by 270 individuals with no obligation to the voters in their state

So the electors vote without caring how the people in their state voted? Or are you saying that if that elected officials have no obligation to people that didn't vote for them?

I am saying the electors should honor the will of the people and vote for the candidate who got the most votes in their state

That is what the electors are expected to do and its the basis for our democratic stability and a peaceful transition of power

Liberals are playing with fire

Do you realize how twisted and anti-democratic that sounds?

You are advocating for a single political/philosophy to maintain control over government.

All I can say is, "Wow!" That's profoundly unique thinking that seems to have been proliferating for the past few decades. I guess you're now only about one among 59 million who subscribers to your political perspectives.

Well done!

1....people have been arguing that the EC needs to be gotten rid of and to have a popular vote of the people for president.

2 ...people now are arguing that the electors who were elected by the popular vote of the people, should betray the people and vote against the popular vote.:doh

Well, that perfectly describes the hypocrisy of the left.

no. those were the rules that everyone agreed on going in. i support ending gerrymandering nationwide.

No, of course. If they were at all successful it would mean using the Electoral College as a weapon based on coercion.
How are phone calls "coercion?"

To be clear, I don't think electors should respond to this treatment by capitulating to it, but if they can't handle being treated in this way, they shouldn't volunteer to be electors.

I don't believe that it will happen.

Playing by the rules is democratic

Rioting in the street and pressuring electors to violate the rules is undemocratic

Hillary lost the election

Get over it

What's funny is that you think I give 2 ****s about Hillary.

It's your pretending to know what democracy is that's both humorous and simultaneously pathetic, which I won't have the least bit of a problem getting over.

If you are not a disappointed Hillary fan then I can't imagine what your problem is

Do you crave anarchy ?

Because pressuring electors to violate the will of the people in their state will bring the whole house down on your heads

I want the electoral college consigned to the dustbin of history where it truly belongs.
But as long as we are stuck with it, I find it perfectly appropriate for people to try to create "faithless electors". That's part of the game.

Hillary's votes give her a greater margin over Trump than JFK had over Nixon when he won. Where's the democracy in that?

I dont care how many votes hillary got in california.

She got fewer votes than trump in states totaling over the 270 electoral votes needed to be president.

And there are lots of laws/rules that mean nothing to me...one of them is the Electoral College nonsense.

I despise both parties AND their leaders...but there is no way I will agree that someone can win the Presidency whilst losing the popular vote.

No way in hell.

She is a lying, useless bitch...but Hillary Clinton should be the President elect...NOT that homophobic, useless buffoon Donald Trump.

And there is NOTHING anyone can say that I could remotely imagine could change my mind.

If you value your reputation you would be better off if I didn't read it

And I dont mean the wet tears about homosexuals

Third world banana republics have no rules and the side with the biggest fist runs the country

Which is how you and the other undeclared/undisclosed malcontents are acting about trump
