I thought we'd all start with an easy one today. Donald claimed that he wouldn't take the $400,000/year salary of the Presidency. Will he make good on this claim?

Donald Trump is pledging no long vacations and no presidential salary during his time in the White House.

"There's just so much to be done," Trump told CBS' 60 Minutes in an interview broadcast Sunday. "So I don't think we'll be very big on vacations, no."

As for the president's $400,000-a-year pay, the New York businessman said: "No, I'm not going to take the salary. I'm not taking it."

Republicans have regularly criticized President Obama for his fondness for playing golf and his family vacations in Hawaii.

Trump: No 'big' vacations, no salary as president

I didn't include the bit about "long vacations" because he didn't quantify the claim. "Long" could mean two days, two weeks, two months...whatever.

He will.

Since he does not want to move into the WH, wanting to stay at Trump tower or his FL golf course, not taking the salary will rationalize his part time behavior (in his mind).

He will have Pence run all foreign and domestic policy anyhow, so he won't be doing ****.

I don't think that's a realistic prediction. Asking if Trump will take money is a gimme.

Why would you want to think he would worry about that amount of money? He probably spends that on a long weekend in London or StMoritz, if those are places he hangs out.

Do you want to make a wager?

Responsibility and accountability come with the salary.

He will want to avoid both of those attributes.

He won the race which is all he cared about.

Does not really matter, as you said he does not need the money, but then again Billionaires do not get rich by giving away money. It is just a bone he is throwing his fan club, and in reality means nothing.

You're attributing a certain degree of integrity to him. While that's something we all certainly wish he had, I'm not that optimistic.

Not at all - quite the opposite.

He doesn't give a rats ass now that he won - now he is burdened with 4 years of focus.

Trump is incapable of high level learning and focusing on anything for more than a few minutes.

I think he won't take it in the sense of actually keeping the salary. But I don't think he'll just "not take" it either, and I'm unsure if that's even feasibly possible. What I think he'll end up doing is just donating the salary to a charity (which, of course, he'll then write off as a charitable donation).

I heard on the news a couple days ago that he'd already said he wasn't taking the Presidential salary.

So the only way to respond to the poll question is to have an opinion about what Trump supporters will do, and only one choice at that?

Big deal.

As I pointed out before...if his net worth is as he claims, turning down the Presidential salary is like a person who makes $50,000 a year turning down an additional $2.

It means nothing.

It is better he turns it down then keeps it...but it is a tiny, insignificant gesture on his part.

Which is fine.

Herbert Hoover turned down his Presidential salary, too.

I wouldn't be surprised if he did. We'll have to wait to see.

It's extraordinary how after a year and half of nonstop campaigning by Trump, his emphatic communication style still gives people the impression that he's being sincere. A 70% false statement rating and people still think he's telling the truth every time.

Trump ran his mouth to gain votes, but I don't think that he really believed much of what he said. We'll have to see what comes out of it. I mean, I expect him to run a rather standard Republocrat administration in the end, with a lot of mouth running and likely some very embarrassing international incidents.

On 60 Minutes he said he would not accept a salary, but that he must take $1 to satisfy the law.

I think everyone is completely missing the point here.

The amount of grifting Trump will do in this position will far exceed his measly salary.

He will grift foreign governments, the taxpayer (we've already given his campaign $6 MM to have SS fly on his jet), and US and multinational corporations. When Trump Jr. Proposes a sweet development scheme in Dubai, governments will be falling over themselves to fund it.

It's going to be like an African dictatorship, but an order of magnitude bigger.

Trump: I will not take the presidential salary
Liberals: Outrage!

You two have to move on and stop with the sour grapes comments. One: they make you look you like a cheap shot artist and two: making up stuff to make you feel better.

Speaking of embarrassing international incidents have you really paid attention to what Hillary did during her run as SOS.

Truth hurt? Trump can't control his mouth and can't take "no" for an answer. He's going to run his mouth on the international stage and it will be embarrassing. I have paid attention to Hillary and I gave her only a very slight edge over Trump in that she can be diplomatic and not embarrass us globally. Otherwise, they were both equally ****.

But in the end, Trump's presidency will be more like the standard, status quo Republocrat crap we've dealt with under Clinton, Bush, and Obama than it will be some radical outsider thing.
