How likely is it that Roe v. Wade will be overturned by Trump's appointed judges?

I think that it will be likely. Your fears are recognized.

By a hiuge amont 67 to 29 the country does not want Roe overturned Trump & the Republicans know that.
Voters don't want Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade

Abortion rights are in the balance with Justice Anthony Kennedy's retirement from the Supreme Court, but most
voters want the high court to keep abortion legal, according to polling from the Kaiser Family Foundation.
The survey was conducted before Kennedy announced his retirement.

Why it matters: The Supreme Court isn't responsive to public opinion in the same way the elected branches
are, but it does often try not to get too far ahead of public opinion — especially under the leadership of Chief
Justice John Roberts, who's known for his concern for the court's institutional standing.
Even only 53% of Republicans want to overturn Roe, I'm not one of them

I think the problem with this kind of thinking is that you can't really separate RvW from the type of judicial philosophy that Trump and his voters do want to appoint. In many ways, though not all, people are right to call Gorsuch's judicial philosophy almost the same as Scalia's. And Scalia never hid the fact he wanted Roe overturned and voted to do it multiple times.

Textualism and originalism tend to naturally lend themselves to skepticism about the Roe decision. Couple that with the fact that Roberts and Alito were definitely on record with wanting to overturn it before becoming justices and the fact that Thomas did vote to overturn it, I don't think it's that crazy to believe that it may actually happen with Trump's next justice.

If abortion is made illegal, it will be the death of the Republican party. Same with same-sex marriage, IMO. The energy that would generate would create a liberal tidal wave that would make 2008 look like a pond ripple.

But I do think the new Court will basically hold that the government has no obligation to ensure that women who want an abortion have a place to go to get it, and that the government is free to discourage abortion in basically whatever ways it chooses.

If anything is going to happen regarding abortion, it will be stealth laws to make it inredibly difficult to get. Reducing the numbers of providers, mandating women get multiple scans, counseling sessions etc, until the fetus is too developed to abort anyway. Many harmful policies are not outwardly obvious, they are insidious, placed into other bills and kept out of the limelight.

Feel free to add any commentary to go along with your vote as well.

It’s just the eternal talking point for the empty handed democrats. Every time a judge mentions retirement, the media starts beating the Roe vs Wade war drums. Take federal funds out of Planned Parenthood, and everyone will be happy and the noise will die down.

Why not? It’s one of the democrats few political issues that had replaced “jobs for the middle class”. Illegal immigration, abortion, and violence against conservatives is their platform so far. It’s a sure winner!

Likely....but anyone who thinks it's going to happen overnight is a moron. What's going to happen, and we saw this with kennedy when they agreed on religious exceptions for abortions. decisions will be narrow and rule 5-4 each time, incrementally. In reality, I think we will see the arms and legs of RvW overturned. It will still exist on paper, but in practice, pro-life states will get everything they want over time.

What do they want?
