Every time someone says something negative about the Trump protestors, or any protesters really, a common response is to say they have the right to protest. I saw it taken a step further where the suggestion was that by being critical; it was just the same as saying they didn't have the right to protest, ergo, this poll. If that made no sense, it doesn't matter, just answer the poll question.

Nope, their right to protest and your right to be critical of them both fall under the 1st.

Of course not.

I've been rather disgusted with the recent antics of the anti-Trump protesters myself despite being #NeverTrump.

I'm not questioning their rights or trying to attack them either, it's just that the sentiments behind the protests are immature and disgraceful. You lost, get over it. Show up at the polls next time and don't hand the election to the angry, white reactionary vote.

Funny enough, the antics of these folks during the election only served to help Trump.

Absolutely not. So long as I am not trying to stop them, assuming that they are doing so legally, they still have their right to free speech, even if I think they're being complete idiots about it.

No. And anyone who does say it is infringing on thier right to free speech is-

They have the right to protest. I fully support anyone's right to display disapproval. I might roll my eyes at them, but I probably wouldn't say a word if all the protests were peaceful. It's violence and destruction that I disapprove of. There's no legitimate room for that crap.

And I'm not a big fan of blocking traffic, either, even if it's not violent. That's just selfish and rude.

NO, since being critical is just another avenue of free expression.

However, free expression in either instance is not a license to act in a way that harms other citizens or their property.

You're disgusted now? Oh just wait until Trump takes office. You ain't seen nothing yet.

Somebody has ingested way too much liberal propaganda, because that is the only way to get to asking such a question.

They have the right to protest. I have the right to say it's stupid.

You are correct on two points. Only you got them reversed, because you should say:

"You ain't seen nothing yet; just wait until Trump takes office."

That's because he hasn't done anything yet for anyone to see, since he doesn't take office for another two months.

So wait until he does take office and demonstrates what he will or will not do...THEN decide whether there is anything to actually be disgusted about. :coffeepap:

Come on man, Victim Culture has produced vast numbers of people far more skilled at the art of taking offense than that.

What rock have you been under?

Certainly so. On the otherhand, who knows, what we'll see? Some of the stuff Trump says is pretty good, some is rot and some is pure populism like saying: "Yes we can!"

Being openly critical of protesters in no way infringes on their freedom of speech. But, it does incite them to escalate into violence from non violence. And as such is probably not a good idea, even if you're free to do it.

Remember, its only social civility that keeps anyone from harming you. Nobody can protect you, they can only punish those that have harmed you after the fact. If you are uncivil to a large group of people, you can't count on their civility to protect you after so long.

Downplay the unaddressed anger at your peril. The problems are not going to go away under President Trump.

And unlike the last eight years, this time, exactly one political party will take the blame if this country goes south.

A peaceful protest to make our opinions known is the right of any American under our constitutional right of free speech and on ethical grounds.

A protest that interferes with the rights of others--obstructing the legal movement of people or traffic or the ability of a legal business to do business, burning, looting, destroying, vandalizing, assault and/or battery, terrorizing people, and/or denying their right of free speech is morally, ethically, and practically wrong and should be denounced and opposed and punished wherever it happens.

The three year old throwing a tantrum has a lot of anger as well, those who give into it will end up with brats, who tend to turn into poorly formed adults.

I say OH HELL NO to that program.

So long as the R's try to do good they will not be blamed for the rampaging twits and thugs.,

Yeah you go ahead and think that. In spirit with the OP, I support your free speech rights to do so.

2017 is coming.

Well Gee Willikers man, thanks so much for the permission to hold my own mind.

Not everyone is allowed to do that anymore.

I must be SPECIAL!

Do you carry around a little box that goes DUNN-DUNN-dunnnnnnn . . . for when you say things like "2017 is coming"?

Of course it's coming. So what?

Have not. Now, what free stuff you gonna give me that I'm entitled to?

They have a right to protest but they're crybabies just like the tea party was in 2009. They show a contempt for democracy and protesting a corrupt dishonest war monger not being elected president is pathetic.

Protesting is free speech. Any suggestion that they don't have the right to protest is to argue against free speech. You can be critical of the protester's cause, but not their right to protest. If the critical comment is about the protestors themselves, then that is tantamount to belittling their right to protest.

I like seeing progressives fear real change in government, and a republican pushing for progressive changes.
I reserve the right to not like the OUTCOME, but on the face, its pretty yummy.
