By law, nope it does not change that unfortunate fact.
That is far as it goes with me.
I still believe him to be what I have always said he is, works for me, we were getting scr*wed no matter who won, this way it will be quicker, good time for some Real Pain.

Which is what I said when Bush was president, it's what I said when Obama was president, and there hasn't been any significant pain from those two utter disasters. Trump won't be any worse. You'll just get a lot of whining from the left, just like there was a lot of whining from the right under Obama, but the world won't end and let's be honest, nothing significant will get done.

And I hope you are right.

Unfortunately my instincts are telling me to be alert, very alert.

He will be President of the United States. That makes him President of the United States - not president of me. And I intend to extend to him all the respect and honor that he and GOP leaders did to the man he succeeded in the White House. Nothing could be fairer than that.

I guess, for me, it depends on what he does. I'm not treating him as some partisan ideologue like I would Cruz or Rubio. No. I see Trump as more of an independent, someone who just might surprise me.

I am confident that he will not usher in some redneck Deep South version of America where every child is expected to carry a Bible, and every woman, a baby. I also know he will not be a puppet for the Koch Brothers. In fact, I suspect it will be with those people who he has his biggest battles. And, I hope to support him on that front.

What worries me while it also gives me hope is that Trump just pumped every uneducated white male in the US full of steroids. I'm curious to see how that plays out. He certainly has no choice now but to deliver; he has to meet their expectations.

I'm indifferent to the political system in general, but I wouldn't blame liberals and leftists in general if they decided to avail themselves to the same conduct of conservatives and republicans during the Obama presidencies. In fact, I encourage it and hope for it; the political spectacle would be too valuable to miss.

Well now, the fact that there are so many no's is really sad.

This country is a sure a mess.

EDIT: I am going to remember this if I ever get charged with a crime, I am just going to say that it is not my court, and walk out.

I don't care what they believe in, he was elected, he is President, people need to grow the hell up and deal with it, just like people did when Obama was elected. People can hate him all they want, but to deny that he's actually the elected President of the United States is downright childish.

He was elected, but not by me. His is the president, but he does not represent me or my interests. He is not my president...I am merely stuck with him. I will fight his every move that I disagree with, which happens to be most things if he follows the Republican agenda.

Grow up? I'm nearly 66 years old and I have principles developed over a lifetime. He represents everything I find wrong with humanity. He is the wrong person for the job. IN MY OPINION and that of most scientists.

One question....

Are you an American citizen?

Yes and I want the best for my country and the world and he isn't it. I can deal with political difference. I can not deal with deniers of science in high office in control of public policy.

What you consider him doesn't change what he is.

WRONG. The question was not is he the president? The question was is he my president? Yes he will be the president. However, he does not represent me. Just the opposite. He is one of my enemies who I wish to defeat.

WRONG. He is going to dismantle science at the EPA and NASA just for starters. The human race is completely dependent upon science for our modern technological society. This turn of events is an utter disaster for the natural environment and those who seek to study and protect it.

He's in.

Not my choice.

But as a life long military guy, and currently living within the largest military complex on the face of the earth ................I had better go along with him. ;)

Will Donald Trump be "your President"?

After the inauguration, of course.

It's a simple yes/no question. There is no "other" or in between. The question is about concept, or beliefs regarding how we view and value our process and political system. Even though Trump is the current example at hand, it is not about him specifically, nor is it about Obama, Bush II, etc.

I had no dog in this race to begin with so I am hoping he can somehow do a respectible job. If not, we all lose.

PS: Yes he is.

He is enabling the Republican agenda. That means he DOES support the Koch brothers.

Maybe you missed the results on Wednesday. The republican agenda won by overwhelming margins. Trump only won by a few votes here and there. He's your last hope to stop the worst of them.

Be grateful that he is not a dyed in the wool partisan hack.

Lets just hope they don't start watering the crops with Gatorade. :)

Maybe I am just too emotionally compromised to answer the question. Or maybe I will continue to feel this way for 4 years.
Only time will tell.
But here is the way I see it...

How much I fear Trump. How much I despise Trump and everything he stands for. And how much Trump wants to destroy everything that, to me, makes America great...
These things are not relevant to the question.
I would still accept the fact that he is my President.

What is relevant to me is that I had to listen and watch for 8 years as the Right spewed forth their drivel and attacks on the man I respect more than any other human being of our time. I watched all of the lynching, monkey, and racist crap. I watched all of the wishes for his death. I watched as they ridiculed my First Lady because she wore a sleeveless dress and now I see that they do not care about the full nudity and soft lesbian porn of our new first lady. I watched as they called him an other. A non-American. A Muslim.

I never even knew that human beings could be so vile and so cruel. Middle school did not prepare me for this.
Most of you probably respect your father the most of any man. I wonder how you would have felt if millions of people threatened to kill him, ridicule him, make the most vile racist jokes, and call him a Muslim for 8 straight years?

It will be a cold day in hell before I even come remotely close to accepting Trump as anything more than a piece of ****.
His election has hurt our morality and endangered human rights on a global scale. But the reason I will not accept him has more to do with the vileness of his deplorables.

It doesn't matter. You had your vote, that's all you get, and guess what? You lost. The adult thing to do is deal with that loss and move on with your life. You don't have to like it, you do have to deal with it.

WRONG. The question was not is he the president? The question was is he my president? Yes he will be the president. However, he does not represent me. Just the opposite. He is one of my enemies who I wish to defeat.

He is your president, as a citizen of the United States of America. You don't always win. Get that through your head.

He says he's going to, that doesn't mean he actually will. You've been around to know that election promises mean exactly jack and squat.

I don't have a choice in the matter, so yes.

I despise him, but he won.

Fair.

I'm of a slightly different view. I hope the D finds a way to work with Trump and those he is working with in the GOP to kick to the curb the worst of both the far Left and Right.

Trump seems to be for real in saying he wants to clean up the mess. And, the mess is everywhere. And that mess is definitely bipartisan. Wouldn't it be nice if he really did turn out to be the president of the people instead of the special interests?

I may be naive. But, I can dream. Right?

Yes. Without dispute.

That is the Republican agenda. Trump agrees with it. It's my main concern in all of this. Science and in particular the NASA Earth studies program is going to be severely cut back because of it's association with the science of global warming and climate change. This is a war that you may not be aware of. His is going to support the Republicans in defunding the U.N. climate programs....it's in his first 100 day plan. He is set to pull the U.S. out of the Paris climate agreement, signed by 195 nations. He will support the Republican effort to disembowel the EPA, kill the clean air plan, reopen the Keystone Pipe Line project, kill the fuel economy mandates and so on.

It is his stated position to do those things and do them quickly in support of the Republican agenda. For the scientific community this is an utter disaster in the making.

Very well stated. Shows a maturity beyond your years. We need not stoop to their level though just to get even. We also do not have grant him respect beyond what he earned in the campaign and I will not. He acted like a piece of garbage, so that's the kind of respect I will show him in return. As a retired scientist I find his agenda to run counter to everything I have ever set out to do professionally and otherwise. He is going to be a disaster in those circles.
