Place your bets! How long will he last (before impeachment, assassination, being overthrown in a coup/revolution, etc...)?

I'm gonna be generous and give him 2 years before he does something incredibly stupid and sabotages his own Presidency, lol.

At least 4 years, maybe 8, but definitely not more than 8.

To answer the question, if the hot-head thing was all a facade then there won't even be the question of him coasting out the first four years. And even then with a Republican congress it's perplexing why this thread would even exist to begin with.

One term I suspect, and it will boil down to how far Trump and the Republican 115th Congress goes with implementing some of the rhetoric from the campaign trail.

Does he have immunity from his fraud trial with Trump University?

I think he could get the full two terms. I mean if Bush could do it, Trump certainly can.

How long he lasts will depend on with whom he surrounds himself.

If he can be made to stick to an intelligent and compassionately uniting script, he'll endure for at least four years.

But if he goes off-the-cuff rogue he could quickly get himself into impeachable hot water.

Donald Trump was disowned by the GOP after the Access Hollywood tape of him groping women, I see no reason why there would be much - if any - protest against replacing him with GOP hardliner and hater of LGBT Mike Pence. I think the likelihood of Trump being replaced with Pence is higher than you think.

He'll rather let the whole world burn before he has to leave office.

I suppose he could give himself a non-specific forward looking pardon. A little bit Constitutionally questionable but in theory...

Well, make no mistake, the military did back Trump over Hillary... but mainly because they despised Hillary not out of affection for Trump (remember, before Bernie dropped out he was getting the military/vet vote). So, if Trump makes any naked attempt to consolidate power into the hands of the executive branch he better hope that Congress gets to him before the military and the American people do. They will tear him apart limb by limb. Our military is ****ing terrifying. I dunno if you're familiar with what happened to Truman after he fired MacArthur, but it didn't end well for Truman.

There is certainly a certain probability that he could be removed from office. But that prababiliy would have been higher for Clinton. Had there been anything deadly in his past, the administration would have found it.

As you know, I am not a friend of the man and think the risks are so large that I preferred a probably criminal. But now he's here. And he will stay unless he falls ill or is assassinated, which can happen. But I doubt it will, even with the hate that liberals feel.

I'm thinking a single term. I really hope there will never be any assassinations of US presidents while I'm alive. Doesn't matter if I agree with them or not.

What I'm curious about is if he does anything really stupid to other world leaders like will he really try to force Mexico to pay for "the wall"? Even his supporters generally admit he really sticks his foot in his mouth often so I'm wondering if like the "Ford falls" if there will be a "Trump tongue" counter or something...

Going out on a limb there, don't you think?

I'd like to think that he'd last only one term, but at this point...who the fudge knows. He's not going to be assassinated or overthrown or anything of the sort. So you have the natural scales for the term, 4 or 8 years, plus resignation/impeachment. I don't think he's going to be impeached, perhaps if something more significant comes out there could be something, maybe...but when was the last time we held a politician accountable? Particularly a President. So I find it unlikely. That leaves resignation, and for that I think one needs a sense of morality and shame, I think Trump lacks both.

As such, most probable, he will last the full term, 4 years, with the possibility of being optioned back for another term. But I don't think anything will interrupt those. So 4 or 8 years, no more than 8 years. I hope 4, we'll see what the DNC does next time.

Consider that $25 Billion a year is wired from the US to Mexico, Money that is subject to outright seizure, but could just be taxed at 10%.
Mexico gets more from cash sent home than from oil - Sep. 1, 2016
$2.5 Billion a year, could likely keep wall crews working.
Do I think he will build a wall? not really, but wanted to point out that there was a way to make Mexicans pay for the wall.

Maybe. But I don't think that he is probably any worse than Obama has been. True, he has some quite bad policy promises out there. But others are quite alright.

In any event, you are probably right that won't abdicate with no more reason than that liberals dislike him.

I've analyzed this situation every which way and there are so many variables that I think his Presidency is impossible to predict. He is a wild card, completely and utterly.

America is entering uncharted waters in a really precarious way.

If his demagoguery ends up being something applied to his Presidency, or his VP takes a more active role, then the U.S. is about to get a dose of a really draconian Presidency. Maybe it's the homeopathy that America needs right now... treating like with like in order to affect a cure to the anger and malaise of our country.

Hard to say for sure though. It would mean the People taking a much more active role, but this election has proven that the partisan pendulum swings ever wider.

That would be a lot of pardons considering the amount of lawsuits and probes he is involved in. Will the FBI take up the bribery cases in Florida and Texas? naw, that was legal corruption it seems. How about his sexual assault cases? Any bets those women will drop their accusations after being paid off or threatened by Trumps goons?

I doubt he'll even run for a second term. I think he'll get bored with the job long before then. But... I've been sooooo right about him thus far you might as well ink him in for 8 years.

Emphasis on the bold. Something tells me that Trump won't last a full term. I dunno, its just a hunch. It feels a lot like the hunch I got on the eve of the nomination of Hillary, that Donald Trump would win the election and beat her. I could definitely see Trump stepping down or resigning and letting Pence take over. At that point, Pence would be an even worse President than Trump I think, and corruption would tuck its tail between its legs and whine. The American people will become an unquestionably terrifying force on the geopolitical level after or during this Presidency. For better or for worse.

The republicans aren't going to impeach their own.

They're really hard on democrats, but they don't hold their own accountable.

I say one term. His promise to build wall will be his version of the 1st Bush's no new taxes pledge.

Right? Mexico would declare war on us backed by NATO and Russia (probably). There will be no wall.
