Voted early here in Nevada.

I usually vote on election day but this time I voted 2 weeks early

Would have loved to, but I'm not yet a citizen (even though I applied in like April and it should be done by now).

Don't take the right to vote for granted! Some of us don't get a say.

Yes. There were only like 3 people in line ahead of me. Obama carried my area last 2 times. Makes me wonder if Hillary's turnout will be low.

Yep. Did both. I'm pretty patriotic.

I, my wife, and my youngest son voted today. We all voted for Hillary. For the first time in my life, I voted a straight ticket. I hated the fact that I had to do that...but every single one of the Republicans running for office were supporting policies that I could not support. The one running for Lt. Governor - Marty McClendon - was a neighbor and personal friend of ours. Our youngest son played with his son who had leukemia at the time. He and his family are good and honest people. But after reading his platform, I simply couldn't vote for him...and I bitterly hate the fact that the Right has forced GOP candidates so far to the right that I can no longer vote for them.

Yep, voted a week or so ago, so obviously I'm not going to today. I pondered doing a write-in vote for Homer Simpson. I pondered voting for Marge Simpson. Dunno, it's such a complicated choice.

Voted weeks ago via mail. I would never go to a polling place if my life depended on it.

Interesting for the first time I also ALMOST voted straight party, it's usually a mix and it would also bum me out if i voted straight party in either direction because that does seem to hint one side isn't doing something right at all. Locally I have always voted a good mix, thats just how it is here.

First thing this morning right after the polls open as we usually do

I don't have much issue where I live with the polling place - rarely have much of a line, perhaps 10-20 people once - usually when I go at around 12:00-15:00 eastern it's basically empty.

Today there was no line, and there were unused electronic voting machines.

I live in a mostly rural area, so that probably is part of the reason why.

Why? Whats wrong with polling places in your area?
In my area mine is at the fireball, theres usually some people hanging out, there usually baked goods and something to drink and I have almost never had to wait longer than 10mins to vote. The longest lines I have seen in my life time were in 08. I went early so again no real wait for me but on the way home when I drove past that was the first time you could see a clear line outside to vote.

Did not................will not.

Until we actually run real adults for the office
There will never be real adults running unless we force them to by voting out the spoiled children.

Or something like that.

If you don't mind my asking why? My polling place is pretty inoffensive: the grammar school that both my kids went to. The poll workers are a bunch of little old ladies who are generally helpful even if they're sticklers for protocol. I don't recall ever waiting more than a couple of minutes.

Lately I've been voting mostly Democrat with various 3rd-party and unaffiliated candidates mixed in if their platforms look decent to me.

I haven't seen a Republican platform I agree with beyond a few topics around the edge in the last 2-4 years

Or something like that.

There is really no starting point for that. All you end up doing is replacing the jackass with another jackass. You never actually get closer to where you want to go.

That tends to be true, what with both main parties offering almost the same thing in alot of cases.

Only solution I can see is to run yourself or start a movement in that area. Or move.

I live in a mostly rural area too, moreso now than where I used to live, but I think my old town just didn't have enough polling places set up, I never saw a time with less than 50-70 people in line, which is why when they started allowing permanent absentee voting, I jumped on it. That way I don't have to deal with stupid people in a line, I can take whatever time I want, stick it in an envelope, and vote on my time, not on someone else's.

It's been years since I voted in person and I've moved since then so I can't say what my new local polling places were like. Last time I voted in person, it was raining hard, the line was outside with no protection, there were tons of people in line and they were generally stupid. There were lots of people voting who had never even looked at their sample ballot, they had no idea what they were doing or who they were voting for and they took forever.

Why in the world would I ever want to do that again?

Nationally I pretty much agree. Locally there are some fine republicans, stereotypically they dont fit republican platforms but I think thats the case with most republicans on a local or personal level. But I love stuff like that its exactly why im independent, i prefer honesty and facts of sheep.

Interesting,See I think issues like that need addressed before so many other things. In 2016 there should never be 1+hour wait times to vote or standing in the elements etc IMO.
