What if President Clinton were to nominate Barrack Obama to the Supreme Court?

He is a professor of Constitutional Law.
And he has the experience and wisdom of having a Presidential perspective for 8 years.

Would you approve of this or disapprove?

I'd rather give Obama a 3rd term as POTUS.

Depends on whether or not he opposes the judgements of Citizens United and Buckley v. Valeo.

my understanding is his political objective upon leaving office is to help elect state officials so that the voting districts can be re-gerrymandered following the 2020 census

First of all, it is almost embarrassing to see this thread on DP.

He was never qualified to teach constitutional law, never mind being a professor. He was a associate lecturer on race related issues after the University Of Chicago saw his book that Bill Ayers had ghost written for him.

I wouldn't actively oppose it, but I don't see how he's really qualified. There are far better minds than him when it comes to the Constitution.

I doubt he'd want to do it anyway. JMO.

I voted for the third option. Knowing Hillary though, I think this is exactly what she'll do.

If Obama thinks it's a good idea, then it is a good idea.

This would so totally get the reprobates back for what they tried to do to him.

It's what the GOP deserves for holding out on the nomination process. I don't think he should be on the Supreme Court but he's technically qualified. I doubt Obama would do it though: there's just way too much money to be made doing other things.

I thought only Republican presidents were allowed to nominate Supreme Court justices.

Revenge is always a good strategy.

You really don't give a **** about your country do you? So long at the "liberals' get what's coming to them.

An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind.

You just keep doing your best to divide the country...it seems that's what the right is all about.....I mean you did choose the most divisive candidate in the history of the country and you STILL want revenge. **** am I glad I don't live in your country.

No offense, but the US is divided because the left kept pushing their agenda down the throats of the country without their approval. Sure, the right might have made the divide deeper after that point, but it was in fact put there by the left.

It's my understanding that this has already come up and he said thanks, but no thanks.

It would not matter at all. The obstructionist Teabagger controlled GOP wouldn't approve Jesus Christ if he was nominated by a Democrat.

That is a tired narrative of the very people that divided this country. No one could **** it up more but a President Clinton.

Can't say I agree considering the amount of bogus ass arguments he threw out there during his eight year term.

Can anyone tell me how taking peoples guns away because they are on the no fly list is constitutional yet?

No? Yeah, I didn't think so.

Elections have consequences. But would appointing Obama really be any different than her appointing another Ginsburg or Breyer? No. It would serve to only further politicize the SC so it would probably not be a good thing in the long run.

I'd be OK with it, but I read on FR that he was moving to Saudi Arabia to help generate more support for Wahhabism. Oh, and Michelle will go back to being Michael.

I generally agreed with his administration, though there were a few glaring differences. I virtually always agreed with his cool, balanced, cerebral manner - finding it very Presidential. He thought Con Law for 12 years at the #4 Law School in the country, and he's an excellent writer and speaker.

So for me: "Why not"?

Clinton is not a divisive candidate. She was well liked and worked across the aisles with Republicans.
Donald Trump was a huge fan of hers.
Republicans pumped hundreds of millions of dollars into a smear campaign that operated on multiple fronts.
Here is a video that is short but backs up my statement rather well:

It would be an incredibly stupid choice. He may have been a professor of constitutional law, however he clearly has shown little or no understanding of constitutional law. He does not even comprehend "Separation of Powers".

The right went wacko.

Obama tried to filibuster one time and they filibuster sixty nine times.

I don't know how they get off on obstructing justices to the supreme court. What do they think? This Congress is a little arena for your beliefs? If you don't know what you believe, get out of Congress, Congress is no place for someone who doesn't know what they believe.
