I do. I absolutely plan on watching. Barring something of unforeseen interest, though, I doubt I'll stay up any later than usual. (10:00/10:30-ish CT)

I would rather risk my successful marriage by hooking up with my psychopathic and debt-ridden ex-girlfriend.

I plan to pop in occasionally to see how things are going, then get back to some serious grog drinking.

This way I will be numbed, no matter what the outcome.

GROG is your friend.

In a coffee cup....

1/3 cup dark rum
1/3 cup dark brown sugar
squirt of lime juice
pour in hot water

shake ground cinnamon over the surface.

Enjoy the election returns.

This recipe is from 1730. Simple, sweet, yummy, and effective.

That sounds heavenly! I don't know what part of the country you live in but if you're an upper Midwesterner, try White Winter brand sweet white mead. Serve ice cold, preferably served in the skull of a vanquished foe in traditional viking fashion.

As far as the OP goes, I work early early mornings so I'll go to bed about the usual time, then just see what happened when I get up. When you live in rural areas in smaller states, politics tend to have a very miniscule effect on your life (unless you graze livestock on government land or some such (I'm not a farmer so no worries there)) so I don't expect that my life will change drastically regardless of which schmuck wins.

If I were to set myself an alarm to wake up and get the results as early as possible, about what time (central) will the winner be declared? Just an approximation of course, I don't expect anyone to know exactly.

I have a 40 minute drive to work, so I'll catch up with the radio while driving.

What I'll probably end up doing is waking up to my alarm, then just turning my phone on during the walk to the bathroom, say "huh, Clump won" Then go about business as usual.

I'm more interested in the weeks/months to come after the election, where all the talking get heads who told us this will be the last election ever, and that our country is headed for an uninhabitable wasteland if the other side wins...I really think the losing side is going to have some epic bed wetting / pant sharting in the wake of the election results. In all honesty, I'm more excited for that. For some reason over-the-top doom and gloom political rhetoric amuses the crap out of me.

Edit - don't ask me for a link or a quote to someone claiming this will be the end of the country, I'm exaggerating.

I started watching them in the sixth grade with Nixon & Kennedy in 60. have not missed one since and this will be no exception. For us political junkies this is like the World Series, Superbowl and NBA Finals all rolled up in one.

Word. If nothing else, this campaign has certainly been entertaining.

Yes in sense that I will be online constantly looking to see who got how many votes and from whom.

I would not consider watching it on TV.

That would be torture.

You have a twisted mind, especially for a Canadian. ;)

Just for the record my wife said she's watching the election. I guess I'll read a book instead.

Life is more enjoyable with the twisted mindset. You can look at things straight and head on, or as I prefer a slight tilt of the head & mind when eyeballing a situation.

Yes, but I only care about the House and Senate races.

It never hurts. I agree.

I'm flying into JFK on Tuesday night and by the time I get the hotel it will be between 10:30pm and 11:00pm. Just in time to get the beginnings of the network calls of who won.

No probably not, I'm sure I'll check in here and there but I don't watch unless I think the results are going to be close or unknown regardless of whether its my person or not. I'll be more interested in total of votes not for Clinton or Trump then I will be in Clinton winning.

I said "I don't know yet" and I realize that statement is a lie. I WILL be watching our local ABC affiliate tomorrow night (WMUR) because of the very important races here (Senate, Congress, Governor). I don't give a rat's ass which loser wins POTUS.

I plan on doing so, but it's in the middle of the night over here then. And I have to work the next day.

So perhaps I'll try to get a little sleep before it gets hot, and start watching around 4am over here (around 10pm at the East Coast).

I probably won't be able to help myself, but I really do think I should just take a couple of sleeping pills, go to bed early, and wake up once it's all over.
