Is your question a moral 'what do you think?' question, or are you asking about what current law states?

As long as it isn't lethal, I wouldn't have an issue with it.

Do we have a shortage of Trump signs?

Morally... thanks for the clarification question.

Do we have a shortage of Trump signs?

I put one up in my class just to see what the kids would say and one kid tore it down and threw it away the minute I left the class... I found out who.

It depends on how you do it. A non-lethal shock I might be ok with. Auto-triggered shotguns not so much.

Looks like it is getting that way... these guys drive around stealing them.

If you do expect a large lawsuit to follow

Don't be stealing people's ****.

Fundamentally something like this, I'm relatively ok with. Not lethal, just a bit of a shock. That millennial ass shouldn't be stealing signs. Anti-American, anti-free speech if you ask me. And infringe upon the rights of others, and you might realize some negative repercussions.

It could hit people who were not stealing however.
If the sign had blown over a person might go to put it back. Or a young child playing in the neighborhood might go and play with it ( no fence). That small shock could turn into a heart attack, overall the large amount of risk in booby trapping anything on your property that is not fenced in could I expect lead to a big lawsuit

I don't think I would have an issue with lethal booby traps, if warnings of the danger are clearly and unmistakeably posted in a manner that cannot be missed.

How about instead of allowing for booby trapping (someone is going to get seriously hurt at some point) people get charged federally for election tampering and go to prison for 10 years for stealing a campaign sign. The state could tack on trespassing charges, etc.

Another stupid thread............ It is against the law to booby trap property and if someone were actually hurt the person that set it would end up in jail, soooooo, the poll is bogus and the correct answer is not even included, typical of some here.

And/or Prison.

I remember about 6 years ago at my last home we talked a ton about this case where hoodlums successfully sued a railroad for big money when they got hurt as they were on railroad property clearly marked "no trespassing" and fenced, trying to harm it.

This country has gone nuts I tell ya....

Most jurisdictions have what is called a "mantrap" law, preventing any hidden means of causing harm.

It is the reason we don't have them in banks, in that regard the vault owner cannot rig to close on the thief.

If you look at the most secure institutions the most dangerous stuff they have is razor wire, which is quite visible; a defense against someone becoming harmed is that they saw it plain as day and preceded anyway.
